Great episode. How will the committee for the HOF decide which position a player will put in? Will they put Aaron Judge in the RF bucket or the CF?
@skmdc24 күн бұрын
Thanks, David! The BBWAA doesn't really spell that out in their election criteria, so I assume they go with games played and where they were at at their peak. Seems to work out that way, anyways.

Hello !! New sub here ! God Is Great sent me. I say when he retires Riley Greene should be in the HOF. Of course my man Miggy is a shoe in for for it.
@skmdc25 күн бұрын
Do I detect some Tigers bias :-) It doesn't get much better than Miggy! Time will tell if Riley can follow suit. Welcome and thanks for stopping by!

Good stuff as always! I didn't realize LF was so thin. I'm going to call the White Sox for a try out. Also, can you post a video of you ice fishing or ice skating? Your pick.

I look forward to giving you your own page on next year's LF video! Lakes are a little thin still, but perhaps a drunken boot hockey short can be done next month.

do Seager's 2x WS MVPs factor into the projection?
@skmdc28 күн бұрын
Hey Wes, I would consider the MVPs more of a low level tiebreaker if it comes to that, so not really in the projections. It doesn't hurt that he's been super clutch when it matters, but in the grand scheme of things it likely won't do the heavy lifting anymore than if he had sucked in the World Series. Thanks!

Good stuff as always! I have Freddie and Bryce ending up as first ballot guys. The Freddie WS performance (and he was pretty damn good in 2021 too) will push him over the top on that I think.
@skmdc28 күн бұрын
Agreed. The WS performances (of both) really adds to the legend, but they could probably just go out and drop a deuce during a WS game and it wouldn't hurt their chances at this point.

Great video as always! I agree with everything you said! One thing I will note as a Goldschmidt fanatic. He does have 62.8 bwar which is quite a bit higher than his fwar, he is one of only two 1B ever to have 300+ HR and 150+ SB, and has the most silver sluggers ever at the first base position. I think he will get in when its all said and done! His fwar took a 3 or 4 win hit last year with a defensive adjustment.
@skmdc28 күн бұрын
Much appreciated! I'm with you on Goldy, his peak was brilliant and I thought he was borderline at a minimum until the MVP, then he was pretty much a lock. Just a matter of when. Thanks!

Are you assuming the Altuve buzzer won't matter because cheating will be forgiven? If so, will PED players like A-Rod and ohters get the same treatment?
@skmdcАй бұрын
Beltran is starting to get some love, that would likely open the door to other Astros. I think PEDs are a different matter and won't be resolved for a long time. You would think Papi opened the door, but that obviously hasn't happened
@davidmillschillsАй бұрын
Great analysis. Seems not too many players are HOF bound. Contreras is not an household name, Rutschman more so, that might explain the 5 fold price differnce?!
@skmdcАй бұрын
Pretty much. That's why I like this and just looking at the numbers. Emotion can sure mess things up! Thanks!!

An interesting choice to use average (arithmetic mean) WAR of the 5 HoFers since 1980 considering that Morgan's 100 skews the data of such a small sample size. Very thoughtful and well-done video, and I'd be curious to see how the comparisons fare if you used median.
@skmdcАй бұрын
Oooh, I like this question, thanks! Honestly, it would make little difference if I used the WAR mean of every Hall of Famer at 2b. 68.45 WAR is the average of everyone, 65.68 is the average of the everyone since 1980 (without Morgan). I figured that was close enough, and a reasonable mark. I guess it was a bit redundant of me to say I'm excluding Collins, Hornsby and Lajoie when I then went on to say I'm looking at guys post 1980. Excluding older players makes more of a difference (to the upside and downside as you'll see with 3B) with other positions. Nothing terrible scientific about this, just what I do. Thanks!

Haha, usually the numbers are close enough, but it is fair to run it both ways when there's enough discrepancy. Gonna run out of room on the pages at this rate!
