Terricic tribute to a Hero of Birkenhead, Dean started off at Pensby Boys, center forward with the ball in the photo. Tranmere signed him for two memorable seasons before Bill Dean signed for Everton and became the Legend he remains. The first to wear the number 9 shirt in the 1933 FA Cup final. A little known fact is Dean played for Tranmere again - during the second world war, when football was regionalised. The Leagues as we know them resuming in 1945-46 season. From a Tranmere fan who was at the famous Arsenal away cup win in 1973, this is a Wonderful song. Well Done Mr Murphy. Up there with 'The Ballad of Romeo & Juliet' on an early LFC album ('She was a Catterick Maverick through and through while he followed Bill Shankleys team' - 'and on the midnight ferry they crossed over, now they're both supporting Tranmere Rovers'. my late fatherwas born in Preston in 1929. he told me his dad took him to deepdale at Preston North End for the first time as a child and he sat on his Dad's shoulders as we all used to. i asked him who they played, he said Everton and Dixie Dean was playing. i envy my Dad seeing that. i have supported Everton since moving to Merseyside in 1967 and haven't missed many matches since. i still go and my sister goes ..we love EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
