Thanks for this video. I search for this. Is the AF as bad as you say? For example, when I shoot a wedding or a concert with the R6 MKII I have zero autofocus problems. Do you think if autofocus is important to me I should bypass this camera?

I fully agree. I do a lot of commercial work with a C500 mk1. It cost $20k only a decade ago! Typically I don't want a wider field of view, I want to eliminate elements in the background. The real advancement of today is not the sensor size, it's the low noise at high ISOs.

Full frame obsession: manufacturers exploiting young filmmakers'' (and hobbyists') ignorance of the difference between 35mm cinema frame dimensions vs those of 35mm still photography. It's like insisting that VistaVision be the standard for vloggers. Also: If you want a wider angle, choose a wider lens. That goes for every sensor format on down to an iPhone. Learning to light, compose and work within the dynamic range you are given will result in better images than just pointing the camera at something and riding the ISO dial/color grading to death.

Intra recording is extremely storage-intensive with massive file sizes. I have not noticed a difference in recording with the much more efficient LongGOP codec.

hey man, coming from standard story company's video. I would like to say this such an awesome short, enjoyed it first to last. the whole premise, the emotional background, the evolving situation was really good. and it would be criminal to not mention the cinematography, color and the little vfx, subtle but still. overall, this short film gave me a hollywood-ish feature vibe for whole time, kept me hooked. and it never looked what people think a short film in low budget would be looking like. never stop making like these. great job.

Would 2 cx70s or 1 c70 and 1 r5c be better for a combo of 2 camera interview shoots, then b- roll on gimbal etc? Thx
@brandnewextragood4 ай бұрын
I really like the combination of a C70 and an R5C, but I think either would be fine on a gimbal. Both cameras have kind of odd shapes, and I think an R5C might be easier to balance for what it’s worth.

With the R5 MK II and the C80 dropping I am looking at the C70 vs R5c. I already have an OG R5 and OG R6. Do you think C70 is the way to go?
@brandnewextragood4 ай бұрын
I think a C70 would round your kit out nicely. You’ve got full frame taken care of with the R5, and the C80’s announcement means the C70 got a nice price drop.

Did a jump from the sony a7c which i filmed a ton of 4k 8bit 420 video on over the past few years, to the sony a7siii, and was super excited for the 10bit 422 option, only to find out it wasn't really that important as long as i didn't mess up my settings on my clips. Sure, it might have had a bit more chroma noise but it was essentially unnoticeable if my settings were correct. Althou it's true that if you mess stuff up, having 10bit422 can really save your ass, as you can correct way more. The only two really important upgrades from the a7c to a7siii were the rolling shutter and the 4k 120p. 120p is cheesy but really powerful for many people. the masses love themselves some good slow-mo :))
@brandnewextragood4 ай бұрын
Nah that’s a huge upgrade. The a7Siii is one of my favorite cameras. You made the right decision. And yeah, having 120p in your back pocket is a cheat code for “instant production value” for some clients.
