Hate is a strong word. I dislike the market. As someone who travels 250 miles to get home, range is an issue. The convenience of spending one minute to fill up as opposed to 40 minutes to charge. The industry, why do I need 1000bhp? Surely, they can have less power more range? I don't understand the thinking. If there were cheaper, less powerful, more range electric cars I would seriously consider one. I'm a petrol head, not a dinosaur against change. I'm actually looking to see where the hydrogen cars go.

There are lots of reasons. Petrolheads are unhappy because electric cars take the joy out of driving and are soulless and many are worried they might have to give up driving their current cars for more environmentally friendly ones. But on top of this many people cannot afford electric cars and in some cities in the UK they have been trying to force people out of ICE’s by implementing congestion charges so that you have to pay to run a non EV or Hybrid car. Also, many people question the true motives of the government as electric cars must run on green energy to be non polluting which is not a factor in most countries pushing for them. Furthermore alternative fuel sources for combustion engines have been developed and trialled and introducing these to older cars instead of producing new ones to be electric would be more environmentally friendly and easier and cheaper to implement, which would mean a more widespread use of greener vehicles. Plus most EVs are made in China to a point and this means that all of the raw materials and components need to be shipped over there and then the finished cars shipped back to the rest of the world. And electric cars typically use 200kg of precious metals whilst conventional cars use 50kg or less with conventional cars using mainly manganese and copper whilst electric cars use on top of these nickel, lithium, graphite and cobalt. There are also some arguments against these being wasted in EVs whilst they can mostly be recycled in ICEs
