Be warned, for those with shattered glass, this process is not easy. I ended up peeling both the glass and whatever else is just underneath the glass off. Phone is useless at this point, it powers on but there's no display. For $30 and whatever I have to pay for a new phone, it's an expensive lesson. I'll not be trying this again on any phone and investing in a better case to protect the phone. Good luck to those who forge ahead!

I need to do this ASAP. Shops are requiring that I buy a new LCD. BTW are you saying that the IP68 prevents me from having to open the back of the phone? Does the tape stay on permanently or do we slip it out?

Do these UV screen protectors come off clean after a year or two? or does the glue harden to a point that you have to scrape it off the screen? or should i just get a plastic membrane?

Pure water is actually pretty insulating. It’s when you start adding electrolyte to the solution that you get a semiconducting liquid.

You skip over so much crucial information. The different layers in the screen. Glass vs OLED, testing the screen along the way to make sure you're on track. You rush through steps, don't show close ups. Honestly, the kit is great but this video needs a lot of improvement.

Hello, does pressing the fingerprint sensor while curing also applied to Spigen Glass tr Platinum? I see that Whitestone include a rubber for that purpose on their package, while spigen glass tr platinum doesn't. Meanwhile, other certain spigen type included a weight (similar to whitestone rubber) on their package. Does that mean tr platinum doesn't need pressing on the fingerprint sensor? What if I apply your method, will it affect that spigen type's glue?

This is a difficult repair that I would personally not recommend attempting unless you have some experience. It is VERY diffucult to get the screen out of these without damaging the OLED section, especially if you've got a heavily cracked screen. It requires considerable heat and preferably some strong suction cup tools. I'd strongly recommend buying a salvage complete screen if this is a phone you want to keep, or even an aftermarket LCD. FaceID WILL work, Apple no longer disables this. You'll still get the non-genuine screen warning. FYI I purchased the kit in the link and the OCA is very poor quality, even after 30 minutes it's' not fully set. Not happy with it.

The only thing I am not 100% clear on is the proximity/face ID sensor. You say in the video that on the 14 pro and pro max this doesn't need to be removed but other videos always show it being removed. Any more details on this?

Hello I did this but my camera lens is blurry what can I do
@ecdiyАй бұрын
While it's possible that the protector is defective, it is quite unlikely. These days all manufacturers that I'm aware of check for optical clarity with a laser scan on each glass. It's more probable that there is either a smudge on the phone's screen or on the protector. If it's on the phone, unfortunately the protector would have to be removed for it to be cleaned. Any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to comment further. Have a great rest of the day.

when trying to peel the thin film by pulling the sticker, the sticker just comes off without peeling. How can i get the thin film off? Im using XT-one xmart UV glass protector for my xiaomi 12 pro. Thanks!
@ecdiyАй бұрын
This for some reason is quite common. I'm not sure why but it happens with some of our protectors too. The only way is to carefully pick at it with your finger/fingernail until you break the tension sealing the protective film to the glass. Once it's lifted even 1mm in the corner, it becomes much easier to peel off. Hope that helps!
@hankschrader3085Ай бұрын
What do you think about the 'reverse clamp' type tools with a suction cup on both sides to pull the screen off would that work with your method?
@ecdiyАй бұрын
They do work. I would just be super careful not to get carried away because the range of motion on those tools are often enough to cause the flex cable to tear.
@IceColdFever3520Ай бұрын
Patent pending a sheet of metal hahahahaha all that stuff on aliexpress 🤣
@ecdiyАй бұрын
It's the combination of tools and the method. You wouldn't find it anywhere on AliExpress. The sticker thermometers on AliExpress at best goes up to 60'C only and are only for one time measurement (once it gets activated, it won't reverse as the temperature lowers). Not many people are aware of this but patent applications can be quite broad, and not specifically limited to tangible objects. For example, there is a patent for "Method of exercising a cat" which basically entails them chasing a laser pointer. It had only expired as of 2013.

@ecdiyАй бұрын
Apart from achieving the initial separation, the method & the principle is the same as all other videos on KZbin. Gel pad + heat gun/hair dryer vs heated suction pad. The OCA blade is the same thickness as the wire tool. You do need to be more careful when using it which is ultimately why we recommend using it only to create the initial separation for the wire tool to enter and when the wire gets stuck. Best regards,
