I'm constantly looking for pictures of Jasper Ave. & 97 St. showing the WW Arcade, Dreamland Theatre, Family Drugs and the Coffee Cup cafe. If you have some I would love to see them.

I have been in search of pictures from Jasper Ave. & 97st. around the mid 1960's and saw one in your group where you can see WW Arcade but not the Coffee Cup or Family Drugs 😀Thank you

Why do cities get rid of trolleybuses? They are the answer to the environmental problems of today with zero emissions and quiet operations.

I was blessed to have met him twice in my life, both times we had such wonderful discussions about nature, conservation and so forth; he encouraged my studies. I'm not an older older person and still involved in nature studies because of the internet, esp youtube.

Went there once when I was 8. I believe there was a TV show as well. Sportsman Unlimited with Keith Mcall was another great Alberta show of the time.

WOULD IT HAVE BEEN A HUGE PROBLEN TO HAVE IDENTIFIED THESE SCHOOLS ???
@georgemachtans1809 ай бұрын
Sadly, the sender does not mention the names of various schools. That is most unfortunate! I recall attending Mac Cauley and King Edward Junior High schools and the new Strathcona as well. If anyone can help me with additional names, I shall be most grateful!

The schools had chutes for fire escapes and we had yearly fire drills. I always wondered how hot those metal chutes would get if there were a real fire?🙃🙃💋

Nice picture of the MacDonald Hotel, City Hall. The restaurant was probably Woodwards Cafeteria. All the big stores had their own places to eat and were packed most days with seniors and Saturdays the general public. The Sands Hotel was very modern for that time. 🥰🥰🥰

The pool with all the trees around in the valley-- is that Mill Creek Pool? I used to go there when I was a teen. So many good memories. The Parliment Ground were always a good place for growing flowers on top of a hill. I guess that land adjacent was an excellent place for the greenhouse business.

My first full-time job was at Woolco Capilano. Now they have Black Friday sales which were just like the monthly sales in Woolco. People would fight over items like nowadays. I was on cash most of the time, and had to remember all the sale prices. Those were nightmare workdays, but I had fun there too! Thanks for your videos, Brent.

I remember Gabi Haas with his accordian. The shell at the Legislative Building always had live music of all kinds. Seven Seas was an excellent restaurant!

Good video. Unfortunately, the music sounds like something out of Pol Pot's Cambodia. While Comrade Justin would love it, the music is alien to Alberta's culture.

Very cool. Looks the the library was inside a train? I remember the bookmobiles that used to come around to the communities. We bought books and cod liver oil pills from the school when I was a child.💋
