I take it this wasn't on VHS releases but on Laserdiscs since they were in widescreen often.

James Horner, the Grammy and Oscar winner who talks about film music as a composer on "Star Trek II" which was very memorable. In many ways it was his best work as a composer. It was excellent with such outstanding results along the way according to Nick Redman, Jon Burlingame and Jeff Bond as well as Debby and Katrina Boone, Camille Fielding and Ricki Lake on "Composing Genesis" in 2009.

Hot damn. I haven't seen comments in forever (I have to review them and I never remember to) but this is great, thank you for identifying it!

Nice, heroic music, with a bit of a mysterious feeling. If only this would have been recorded and used for the film. It makes clear to us what the Reliant 'sounds like', which to me is helpful as a guide through the musical landscape that is to follow, as it were. To my ears it is in embryonic form much of what would be further developed in later scenes, when Reliant battles it out with Enterprise, and as such a nice exposition for what would be to come. I think it would have enhanced the musical experience.

A tribute to Mister Horner who died due to Aviation accident and incident. But his composing music to this motion picture from Nickelodeon & Paramount Pictures will always stay the same.

Ppl loved to trash Horner for recycling his work, but this score was very bold, very intricate, and very original. It was also much better than the film, and made the movie better.
