I was in a 200cc race once with just me, one other person and all computers. When the race started, we both just goofed around at the first item box hopping / running into each other, going backwards and just being ridiculous with each other until the end of the race. When he finished in first, I decided to be a troll and stayed in the back and waited for the 11th placed computer to pass me to drag the wait time out. It was hilarious.

It's actually a really nice combo. And yeah, Rosalina and King Boo have the same stats. I use Rosa just because I like her lol and I learned inside drift solely because I was curious about how it played, and now I can't play with outside drift

Allowing the ability to change the color of each screen to whatever you please (via RGB scale or something) would be absolutely killer.

1. Display controls at start. 2. Enable color. 3. Enable fading from center of rectangle(e.g., just use a blur or a faded disk) 4. Allow for other shapes(not really needed but easy enough to add) 5. Enable bright center rectangles(like 3 but problem is one has to stack too many squares to get definition) 6. Enable selection of rectangles(use a bounding box to show which one) 7. Retain rotation and add precise rotation presets. E.g, R-n will set rotation to 2*Pi*(n-1)/8. Of course all are optional effects.

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately the project is a little old and I don't have the files anymore, but those would definitely have been cool features.

I'm trying to understand what's happening. Are these 'screens' fine actual fine meshes - or digital simulations - that are being overlapped to make moiré interference patterns? Is each mesh a different regular tessellation?
@adora_was_taken
@adora_was_taken Жыл бұрын
it's taking a screenshot every frame and re-rendering it to the two rectangles. since the rectangles have a slight background to them it quickly creates infinite fractals that change as you move the rectangles edit: if you check out the description of this video it's apparently a digital recreation of the phenomenon in this codeparade video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqeVZ4R3hMiVbLM

You're looking into this a bitttt too much, imma say that. Moiré interference looks really cool, but that's definitely not what's going on. It's simple taking a screenshot of your actual computer screen and displaying it onto smaller "screens", creating a recursive effect. By making the smaller screens slightly opaque, it allows for the fractals to appear when different "screens" overlap.

My favourite fractal video. The slightest change of parameters brings forth a different natural form. It goes from ferns to conifers to smoke to waves to clouds, without dwelling on any form. It’s kind of Buddhist in a way!

You're looking at a fractal. If you don't know what fractals are they're really cool shapes with infinite detail. By taking your screen's rendered frame and displaying it on smaller rectangles on your screen, you create an infinite effect.
