I have three blued R92's - two carbines in 44 Mag (16") and 45 Colt (20") and a rifle in .357 Mag. Love em. All lost their stupid safeties.... somehow.

Had a chance to buy a 30-40 Sporting model but chose a 30-06 Military style Saddle Ring carbine. Rough Riders in Cuba came to mind😊😊. Awesome gun and beautiful!

I believe John Browning also said if he couldn’t deliver the rifle in the time agreed that he’d do it for free. Perhaps I have my facts wrong but I believe that was the agreement between John Browning and Winchester. And of course he delivered on time. JMB was the best gun designer ever!

How difficult is it to change out to the standard lever loop?

I have a Chiappa ‘92 Trapper .357 in brushed aluminum. Never have seen another brushed aluminum Chiappa. Your Rossi has a resemblance. Rossi & Chiappa have any connection? You ever come across one like mine? Tia

Honestly, I think the 16" 92 clone is about perfect. 2 inches are trivial but you'll get the extra round or two of capacity. I don't know if this is still an issue, but they would come with magazine spring sized for the 24" version, so it was a bit stiff. Snipping off a few loops of the spring would allow full capacity, often a round or two could be gained, without sacrificing functionality/reliability and actually making loading easier. 20" versions are great for slightly longer range. But I think it's been shown that 357Mag actually about peaks at 16" - this maximizes its potential. No other round gains so much vs. a pistol.

I checked that on BBTI and you are on to something with the 16 inch barrel...I might need to look into a .357 lever action...

@@JohnPublic-dk7zd Yes! I forgot to mention - "Ballistics by the inch" is the site. 357 has the most gains of all the pistol calibers. That is not to say that it'll hit harder than 44Mag or even 45 Colt +P in these carbines. But it's very potent and 16" is the sweet spot. It is very handy, looks like a toy in hands, yet packs a punch.

In my opinion, the 92 is one of the greatest rifle designs of all time. I have a Rossi .357 carbine with the large loop and traditional wood finish. I'm quite fond of it and plan to order a Skinner rear aperture sight very soon.

Wow, good words, chosen smartly. Here's the deal, I hope like hell the NRA, MY NRA, has turned from that corrupt ass LaPierre. I'm a life member and I'm not going anywhere but it needs to be understood that it'll be a long time before I give another dime to them, as of now they can't be trusted. I hear the good words but that's all they are, words. I have apparently pissed away a lot of my hard earned money over the decades to this clusterf--k thinking they were doing the right thing for the right reason with MY money. I don't trust this guy any more than anyone else that's been around through the LaPierre fiasco. These people sat on their ass and watched this happen, not a peep was told to us, and WE are the NRA. As I see it, all of the old so-called leadership needs to go. We'll see what happens but at this point my money and support will go to GOA, FPC, NMLRA and TSRA. They can be trusted.

Micheal! Talking power levels in .32 cartridges, how warm can say, a .32 ACP be safely loaded, to compare to the revolver rounds? Where does .30 Super Carry sit, on the spectrum? And a blast from the past, what kind of performance does .32-20 supply, since it was a popular rifle/revolver round, back in the day? Was it too big for the snubs of the day, where is it in comparison to a .38 spl., for instance? Just trying to figure what the power spectrum is, to compare.... 🤔

My first handgun was that H&R 32 H&R magnum in blue and I still own it because I wouldn't inflict it on anyone else because it shaves jacket on one cylinder. I also blame it for my freakish 32 obsession.

People have changed over to revolvers because they don’t want to worry about all the stupid laws all these anti-American cites/states have in place. I learned on a revolver back in the early 80’s and ran them for quite some time. But as soon as it was legal to carry here in Texas I switched back to carrying a revolver 24-7 and haven’t looked back.

Good for Rossi, we've been making revolvers for 150 years they shouldn't cost $1,299. Rock Island is hit or miss with their revolvers, so is Charter Arms. Maybe Rossi/Taurus know the secret.

I sure hope your sweetie has a vehicle larger than your Mini , to evacuate 👍my late cousin gave some of the best advice for quick evacuation I had heard. Having successfully survived the Camp Fire in Paradise Ca, she said instead of trying to decide what clothes she would take from her closet, she just grabbed the laundry hamper. Her thinking was, those aren’t just the clothes you would wear every day, you knew they still fit you😂 be safe out there👍

Bane, remember the zoom round tables you had during covid ? IMHO we need you to put together another such round table to discuss current situation in America. We are coming apart at the seams. More dangerous than covid….Trump shot, coup replacement of Biden, wars all around the USA, economy in shambles, border out of control, crime etc. Would love to hear smart guys war game next 5 years and offer suggestions on what to do.

.22 reliability is a real issue. CCI Mini Mag does solve a lot of that. Some things to consider for someone wanting to carry like the LCP II there in .22, might want to carry two for the redundancy. Carry a 8-shot LCR in .22. The good news is the LCP is going to clear a dud round fairly quickly/easily, unlike this jam that takes place in the open slide configuration of the Kel Tec P17 that takes you out of the fight.

I bleed Winchester lever guns owning several originals myself. The only problem I see with the new made ones is that silly tang mounted safety feature. Total blasphemy if you ask me. Yes I know why it is there and for what reason but the originals already had a safety. It was called the half cock notch in the hammer. As far as the rear sights Lyman made a receiver mounted one. 405 Hornady brass sells now for 4 to 5 dollars each if you can find them so I feel your pain. I now buy them when I find them at any cost. Maybe Hornady will start making them again...
