Moreover, tactical middle pocket potting and balls getting pocketed in the score zone is common in frequent games of line ball, meaning balls are always required to reset.

What happens if you just smash your opponent's ball into the line of balls down the other end. You are both being quite tentative and strategic - others may just want to whack ball out by stun doubling. Is that ok?
@LineBallPool
@LineBallPool 7 күн бұрын
@@benhowell8056 great question Ben! If you hit the black or pot in either scoring zone pocket you lose instantly. Using power is viable but hitting uncontrolled hit and hopes rarely work as you often end up losing for it. Also if a ball reaches that line of reds and yellows it is instantly removed from play before contact is made. Once it reaches the line it is out. Any other questions do let me know! :)

Interesting idea. I think for this game to take off I think you'd need to try to get some really good players on board from a local club and see what they could achieve and see what the game looks like when you have players who really understand cue sports because at the minute it just looks like a game that people are playing badly. Some of these shots are very simple for example - 25:49 I mean it'd be super easy to hit that red and not hit the yellow , and then the shot before you said was a good shot, but really it was a bad shot, because you very nearly went in and you played it way harder than you needed to ... I think getting good players will let you see the mileage in the game, because you might find that it's completely flawed when someone decent plays it (that was sort of the death are bar billiards where a fairly decent player can just score 100 times in a row without missing) OR you might find it's amazing and creates really interesting situations.

Richard, thank you so much for taking the time to watch through this video and leave such a thoughtful comment. Yes I agree, when I first started playing, it was just me and my friends, since this video was uploaded, many more players have been introduced at higher skill levels (an ex-associate of WST, captain of a local league and a current Ultimate Pool Pro) - as you said at the end, it has genuinely has lead to incredibly diverse situations with higher skills players. Please check out my series with ultimate pool player Luke Terry, he currently plays and commentates to a very high level, his exposure to line ball was fascinating: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eam5fIWDq7iarLc&t With each tournament I release, the standard goes up and up, so I can appreciate watching this video, at the beginning the standard was poor with who was playing and our level of experience. I will be very interested to hear your thoughts on my series with Luke and if you ever get a chance to try line ball yourself, do tell me what you think. I forget when, but at some point Luke even mentions bar billiards similar to you. Thanks again for the lovely comment. I really appreciate it.

I played my first few games of line ball a couple of days ago. I'm a pretty decent pool and semi decent snooker player (been playing for around 30 years). I can honestly say this is a lot more difficult than it looks! When watching some of the videos I will admit that I thought the game was interesting but perhaps a little too easy. How wrong I was! Really enjoyed it and think my friends did too. Going to be playing a lot more of this : )

ONE RULE CHANGE: During the event of a draw condition, all balls in the playing zone, not scoring, are to be removed and placed in out of bounds. This update was done to streamline a draw condition point, remove unnecessary obstacles and confusion.

Thank you so much for the nice comment Tim! Please do give line ball a go at your club and let me know what you think! I always get weird looks too, but it ends up breaking the ice with pool players around me and creates a fun talking point. In theory it can be played on a snooker table but you would still need pool balls because you need 7 reds and 7 yellows, although on a snooker table you could have even more than 7 balls each! I've never played this on a snooker table. If you get any footage of you playing at your club, do send me a link! I love reacting to anyone who tries my game and has feedback :) Thanks again.

Great video. Hint when trying to put your own ball in try and hit it half ball. Hitting full ball may well put your ball in but will leave the cued ball pretty much where your object ball was! It is not eaay however as the angles are harder to judge half ball. I look forward to the next video!

Great spot Simon! Yes absolutely, because of the pace you have to hit the shot, using top spin is much harder unless you plan multiple cannons, as a result, yes, hitting half ball is the best reliable technique. Every tournament more and more players are starting to catch on but it's great you have seen it and explored it too! Excited to share the next instalment.

How does the King of the Hill Shootout work? Read below One team is the king, one is a challenger, 4 teams wait in a queue to challenge next. Win, stay on the hill, lose go to the back of the waiting queue and a new challenger steps up. If the King stays on the hill by winning 5 games in a row (playing each challenging team), they win the tournament. The longer they stay on the hill, the more obstacles thrown in their way. What are those obstacles? After 1st win: No obstacle. After 2nd win: White ball enters scoring zone, if either team hit it they lose, a draw condition is a lose for the hill holder. After 3rd win: Same as above, except challenger can hit the white. After 4th win: Same as above, hill holder loses one of their balls at the start, and any ball that “rides the line” is considered out for the hill holder only. Ride the line means any ball over the line between the scoring zone and the play zone. There is a 50-point cap, if we don’t have a winner, the team with the longest winning run is the champion, if two teams are tied, the team with the most total points is champion. Should two teams be equal after that, it will go to their head to head record, if they are tied after that, a 1-point playoff to win. New to Line Ball? Learn the rules here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bne4iYajqbV-iq8&t Helpful information: Hill Holder always plays with the yellow balls on the left. Challenger always plays with red balls on the right.
