It is extremely important that people really learn what impact investing is and how it'll be implemented: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6fUc32PotWEqLs Who gets to determine which impacts are "positive"? How/when does it change over time? They want to take away weapons. Why would someone want that?

Money is an expression of the value created by the economy.... So yes, the economy actually was designed to facilitate making money.... You also establish numerous false dichotomies between "social" and "traditional" when the economic market place is vastly more complex than this and often "traditional" economic methods have produced the desired outcomes of ESG focused industry, cheaper, and more efficiently, which sort of obviates the need for this sort of "change", if it can even be called that. For example the list of "risks and returns" you enumerated are already extant properties of investment today, highlighting how little is "changed" by "Impact investing" . You define "good" and "bad" types of investments arbitrarily while ignoring the bad outcomes that result from driving investment away from companies that do things like farm tobacco or making weapons. What about countries where they don't care about the ESGs? You place compliant companies at a disadvantage against companies from countries where there is no compliance and you fail to address the demand which is served by the supply you deem, arbitrarily, as bad. Just from an economic perspective, this sort of investment strategy is unsustainable, which is almost ironic considering how tied up in the SSDG scheme it is. Pass.
