Strange!, have just looked at Sam's Trains review of these coaches and his are a lot less bight than these.

I have found, this past year that after scraping off the worst of the crud, immersing the components is a solution of caustic soda, kept at a simmer for 1/2 to 1 hour, very effectively gets rid of all grease and paint. Sounds like a bit of a faff but it saves time down the line. Just take care using Caustic Soda [Lye] as it rips off skin just as efficiently. Where lettering is reasonably raised, I've found that going over the tops with a fine flat file, really defines the logos and letters nicely, giving a nice crisp painted finish

Hello, i have the same issue but by me the speedometer is not working, and the parking sensor and the seat belts are not rinning. And sometimes it fixed by it self for a couple of days and then the same issue! Can you or someone else help me?

My Citroen C5, just today, threw esp/asr fault at the exact moment the fuel low indication came on. After that auto trannie started to change in a weird fashion. I found some suggestion that this strange phenomenon happens sometimes. After refueling indeed everything was back to normal. No fault. Gearbox switching gently. Great relief but this correlation is somehow disturbing.

Thanks so much for posting this. I bought one a few months ago and was worried as the change speed control didnt appear to be working. I hadn't realised that the pin had to be moved as well as the knurled knob. That explains a lot! Thanks again.

Nice job there, i like your footings and good control operation bit too. I’ve just got a chipmaster, but it was coveeed in gunk and couldnt make any of the gears out. The variator also wont adjust as the cogs dont meet just inside the cabinet

Hello from the East Riding of Yorkshire. Just watched your excellent video about the unboxing of your GWR coaches and I found it very interesting and informative, well done. Your layout looks amazing as well. Thank you once again. I shall be watching again. 👍🚂

I was disappointed that it is assumed that they are going to be run as a set with close coupling with no alternative provided. I bought a brake coach to run as a one coach branch train and had to then buy a pack of NEM couplings. How much extra would it have cost to provide alternative couplings?

The cantrail sticks out too much and reminds me of the metal roofs of the ancient Graham Farish 'suburban carriages of the 1960s. A pity they did not go in for Churchward's American bogies. The roofs would be better dark grey. White just looks silly.

Can't beleive I'm saying it, but £55 is maybe good value for money nowadays... but shame though that they don't do "packs of 4" or buy 4 get 1 free.. I'll be waiting for a lottery win. Anyway great video - I imagine you didn't bother taking the rooves off the other coaches arter learning your lesson! These manufacturers don't seem to recognise that most of their customers are going to have radius 2 curves, and fit as default all the the details (like short close coupling) that look good but aren't all that practical. I got a class 33 last week, all the buffer detail had to be taken off if you wanted to effectively haul any trains..

This is the best illustration of a rear axle build thank you for the time to post this. Is the procedure the same to just replace the crown and pinion from a standard 3.09 to a 3.07 to suit a rover V8, can a novice do this work with the right measurements or is it more for a specialist ?

So is that normally aspirated or fuel injection? I cant quite tell? I m guessing its fuel injected with velocity stacks reminds me so much of Ferrarri 250 gt ellena engine. Not so much the air cleaner but the side draft stacks. If thats the one that went into Jakes Mgb thats one hell of an engine! Im super impressed! Thanks for sharing this delicious modification to the Mgb! Please drive conservatively and.dont flip her. That engine sounds perfect! Nice notes!
@bengunn0711 ай бұрын
Think you've got the term 'naturally aspirated' mixed up matey. That refers to whether it is boosted (ie turbo or supercharged). This looks to have individual throttle bodies rather than carbs so it's fuel injected 👍👍👍

Nice little lathes. I did my Engineering apprenticeship (1976-1980) in a company that made saddle gearboxes for Colchester lathes amongst other parts (topsides, compound slides and tailstocks). The gearboxes were for the larger Colchester lathes, Triumphs and Masters. At the age of 19 and still on day release at college, I ran the gearcutting shop, Hobbers, shapers, vertical and horizontal broaching machines, and an induction hardening plant where we hardened the gear teeth. You have 2 shafts running along the front of the lathe to drive the saddle gearbox. A lead screw for thread cutting and a spline shaft for feeding. I don't think we made parts for the Chipmaster, but we had one in the turning shop. Some machines were special purpose ones built by Colchester. Looking into the saddle gearbox on the vid I can recognise a lot of the parts. It was a busy place shipping out a fair few gearbox assemblies every week up to Colchester for assembly into new machines.

Just bought one of these at a car boot for 20 quid and looking forward to getting stuck in to restoring it. It is a well used item but functionally really sound. Like yours, the letters in the casting are not great but an hour or so with a die grinder will tidy them up a bit. Not going to allow myself to start, till I have finished my Record #36.... it got a bit side lined, so this gives me a good incentive to tidy up the last few snags on that one. Thanks for the video. I'm sure it will help avoid some head scratching on my part. These are really heavy and, at my age, the less I have to lift and turn it, the better. To get it back to the car, I bought a shopping trolley for a couple of quid, took the bag off, just leaving the frame and strapped it to that. By the time I got it to the car, it was trashed ...It died in a worthy cause ! ;<)

All very well, but now you do not have an MG !!! You also devalued your asset !! NOT A SMART MOVE !! The gearbox will keep failing as it was NEVER designed to cope with the loads you are applying. Then the diff will fail for the same reasons, then the body........ and the story will go on and on and on and.................................... THEN you will be sad and miss your MG that you once had !! It is what it is and be happy with that !
@MG-Driver11 ай бұрын
Couldn't be further from the truth. The gearbox can handle 250bhp as I upgraded the bearings and lubrication. I don't care about the value of the car as I'll never sell it, I've had it over 20 years. The diff will not fail as it is the same diff used in the V8 models which have more torque. Also it has a limited slip differential. My car currently has 230bhp and has not broken down at all even though I drive it hard. Build it right, build it once.
