One of the problems with modern survivalist theory is the self isolation. It's great until you run out of food and bullets to defend your group. You're better off thinking of yourself as a cell that wants to reproduce and add more cells. How can you raise crops in such a way that you can give seed to another group. How can you heard your animals in such away that you can give away what's needed for a seperate group to start their own herd. How can you produce enough with your group to be able to start a localized economy and trade with other groups. People will get violent if they aren't given an out. By being willing to train up others you relieve the pressure that's built up.

This film vividly illustrates what happens when people don't prepare for themselves and their families. If preparation was a national program/policy aimed at individuals, families and communities, this scenario could be largely avoided. But then, the Left would work to screw it up and the selfish would abuse it, so...

Just talked to a guy who got cut off by landslides in a holler in NC from Helene for 3 weeks, anything can happen, and it doesn't take long at all in a society such as our. You wait and see, no power means no running water if your on a well, no fuel for your generator, after 4 days your frozen food has completely thawed, you can't flush toilets etc. People get desperate my friends.

This is straight out of the “Black Autumn” book series. Just set in the Rockies, instead of Utah. Not hating, just recognizing. Hope the show is as realistic as the book series.

This movie is based on real people in the Black Autumn book series which is phenomenal. The movie wont or cant be exactly the same, but the characters in the book are largely based on the Black Rifle Coffee Company military vets. Jeff Kirkham, Jason Ross, Evan Hafer and Matt Best!

a) This scenario could work as late as the 1950s. However, current-day -- asymmetrical -- terrs have access to the fUSA electric grid and water treatment plants. . b) San Angeles/Los Diego has zero strategic value. Let us suppose a back-pack nuke flattens a square mile of the inner-city slums. . Zero is accomplished. The docks still transfer cargo. So, let us suppose terrs nuke the docks. Zero is accomplished. Transportation still moves goods on the freeways. . Nuke the freeways! Transporters will run convoys using a different route. . c) Nuke Worshington District Of Criminals! Zero accomplished. For each vaporized bureaucrat, a hundred others are waiting to take that job. . d) Nuke Peking in 1947? That could solve everything... ...if only American foreign-aid to the chinese government wasn't just another skim-scam. . d) The conflict in the Ukraine shows the value of cheap drones by the thousands. . Their novel BLACK AUTUMN discusses the yuge compound with a couple hundred farmers and security. . I think those concentrations of goods, equipment, and personnel makes a tempting target. For brigands, probably. For the government agents, definitely.

Yea this looks like a perfect conservative wet dream. Unknown threat causes chaos (of course the little girl had premonitions), and now all the doomsday preppers and gun owners are suddenly right

In this scenario, our SOP: * Never get within a hundred meters -- SOCIAL DISTANCING -- from anybody outside my Tribe. They carry diseases we cannot imagine. . With us close together, eating together, sharing equipment, alternating through LP/OP duties, any contagion would rip through us... ... leaving us vulnerable to attack by outsiders.

This looks unsettling real. Prepping is good to do. This world can flip upside down instantly. I can deal with surviving on the land but looking a man in the face and he telling me his kids are starving is another thing altogether. Sadly so many people would perish in a scenario such as this. People without meds wouldn't last very long. You can't predict what kind of person you would be.
