This should be a very fun/interesting watch…thus far, nicely produced and narrated. Quite an ancient migratory route for Elk runs the backbone of The Blues…during winter, the Elk travel from the Pendleton Blues, “northward” to the Tucannon River drainage of the Umatilla National Forest. The story about the Roosevelt Elk, the Bighorn Sheep and Wolf transplants will be informative.

Christ came down the Mount of Olives on a donkey on the afternoon of the 10th Abib, when the Passover lambs are selected. He entered Jerusalem's East/Golden Gate as it closed behind Him at sunset, and entered the Temple's East Gate as it opened before Him commencing the weekly Sabbath ! The DSS's calendar confirms the 11th Abib as the weekly Sabbath, therefore more proof that the Babylonian lunar interpretation of the Biblical calendar is incorrect ! In 30AD, although it was actually a Saturday on the Julian calendar, Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey on April the 1st ! It is also no accident that April the 1st is April Fool’s Day ! The children of the devil will never stop denigrating Him ! This was definitely not the weekly Sabbath: as shown, it was actually “Palm Saturday” ! Did you also consider that the whole of Jerusalem witnessed Christ descending the Mount of Olives to enter the city - only to get to the Temple at sunset: therefore Jerusalem’s Eastern/Golden Gate closed for the night behind Him as the Temple Eastern Gate opened before Him, starting the weekly Sabbath Day - He passed through the Temple gates, looked around the Temple and left ! In other words, ten days after the vernal equinox when the Passover lamb is selected on the 10th Abib, OUR “Sun of righteousness” moved westwards down the Mount of Olives on a donkey. Proclaimed by throngs of people as “Hosanna” Saviour of Israel, He moved on through the Garden of Gethsemane, through the East Gate of Jerusalem and through the Temple East Gate, before He finally looked around the Temple complex (Mark 11:11) as the sun set - starting the weekly Sabbath day and Daniel 9:27’s prophetic non-calendar “week” of seven days ! That year the next Roman day of the week was Sunday, when returning in the morning and first whipping the traders out the Temple, Christ did then teach in the Temple, as was his custom on the weekly Sabbath ! The Biblical weekly Sabbath isn't always on the same Roman day of the week every year ! In Matthew 28:1 the Sabbath was already in progress from the sunset before. It was still "dark", but the sunrise "dawn" of that Sabbath was imminent. Every Sabbath has a sunset start, a morning starting at midnight, a dawn starting at sunrise and finally an afternoon ending at sunset. Matthew 28:1 says: "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week..." You will see in the Bible itself that the word "day" is in italics, which means that it is an insertion. Both the words "sabbath" and also "week" are Strong's number 4521, which can mean respectively: "by extension a se'nnight, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths" and "sab'-at-on i.e. Sabbath singular or plural." So is should actually be read like this: "In the end of the sabbath interval, as it began to dawn toward the first of the sabbaths....." The "interval" referred to is the 16th and 17th Abib, after the 15th Abib Passover High Day Sabbath, and before the next WEEKLY Sabbath of the 18th Abib - the first Sabbath Zero of of the 49 day Feast of Weeks Sabbath count to Pentacost ! On the Dead Sea Scroll's calendar, it allows that Christ was anointed at supper starting the 13th Abib, was crucified on the 14th Abib and hurriedly put in the tomb before sunset starting the 15th Abib High Day Passover Sabbath (night and day 1 "in the belly of the earth") The "se'nnight i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths" see Strongs #4521, is the 16th and 17th Abib (night and day 2 and 3 "in the belly of the earth"). The evening starting the 18th Abib weekly Sabbath then commenced with the resurrection of Christ, and He appeared around sunrise to the woman at the empty tomb, showing Himself to others later that same-day. The DSS's 19th Abib is the first day of the Biblical week, in which He ascended to His Father as the living First Fruits Wave Sheaf. Show us any other ancient manuscript of a contempary Biblical calendar that proves otherwise. An extensive Biblical study confirms this layout, except that the Dead Sea Scroll's actually have their omer wave sheaf one week later - on the 22nd Abib after the 7th day of Unleavened-Bread-High-Day of the 21st Abib. This is one of the objections the Qumran community had with the Temple Sadducee priests' calendar, but Christ never objected to the Temple calendar days. It is also highly unlikely that the Qumran community had different WEEKLY Sabbaths to the Temple calendar at that time. So Matthew 28:1 CAN be read THIS way when looking at the Greek: The first "sabbath" is actually the "interval" between the two successive Sabbaths of the 15th Abib High Day Sabbath and the 18th Abib weekly Sabbath (see "se'nnight" of Strong's number 4521). Note that the word "day" is an italic insertion into the script and shouldn't be there. "week" here in the Greek can also be interpreted as plural Sabbaths - referring to the FIRST of the Sabbaths AFTER Passover leading up to Pentacost. "began to dawn" agreeably is just before sunrise of the "twelve hours in a day" Christ referred to. The Exodus Passover event proves that the morning actually starts at midnight because they were not permitted out of the doors of their homes "until the morning", and Moses left the doors of his home immediately after midnight when Pharaoh summoned him, and they all started leaving Egypt long before sunrise. The Afternoon/Evening is from mid-day to mid-night, and the Morning is from mid-night to mid-day. The Law forbids that Christ should hang on the cross until a mid-night start of day, or a morning start of day - He had to be off the cross by sunset before the start of the High Day Passover Sabbath starting at sunset. Don't forget that from the time of Pilate's order to the Jews to seal the tomb and set a guard, until those three days had expired, nobody could break the seal and open the tomb. The women rested for the 15th Passover High Day until they could buy spices on the 16th, but couldn't open the tomb until three days expired from the issuing order sealing of the tomb. That order only expired after the morning of the 18th, so they waited again and only went to the tomb as the three day 72 hour seal expired after sunrise on the 18th. This is how the erroneous Good Friday to Easter Sunday is calculated - after/since all these things were done and then from the three inclusive days starting from the sealing of the tomb. Every Sabbath has a sunset start, a morning starting at midnight, a dawn starting at sunrise and finally an afternoon ending at sunset. "But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done." (Matthew 24:21) The last "thing done" was the sealing of the tomb: 12 hours AFTER Christ was already "in the belly of the earth". THIS WAS THE THIRD DAY FROM THEN..

Modern Halloween as we know it today is just that - a modernly invented ‘holiday’ combining elements of an earlier American tradition called “Hell Night”, along with a healthy dose of good old “Hollywood” thrown in for good measure. Virtually _all_ American customs associated with Halloween originated right around the 1920’s - 1930’s or so. While there are some vestigial elements from pre-Christian religions in some of the customs (the "apple" traditions - bobbing for apples for example, but that's from the Romans, not the Celts) , the modern costumes, the blood, the gore, the reveling in death and destruction, the candy, even ‘trick or treat’ itself, dates no earlier than 1900’s America. In short, it’s a relatively new phenomenon and represents a mix of cultures, capitalism, and accommodation. Many people seem to associate modern Halloween with three things: The old Celtic New Year’s celebration of Samhain (in asserting that most of Halloween’s customs can be traced to Samhain celebrations); Satanism (asserting that Halloween’s origins are Satanic as evidenced by the many Satanists who use this day to promote their beliefs); and All Saints Day (asserting that the early church established the holiday to “Christianize” Samhain). Upon a more critical examination however, these associations fall more into the categories of wishful thinking and urban legend than actual historical fact. It's simply not a holiday that has close ties to the ancient past, nor does it have some ‘pagan’ antecedent, nor is a continuation of several ancient customs, as some would have one believe. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of researching the various origins, traditions, and, ‘assumed truths’ about Halloween, is sifting through all the data and separating historical _fact_ from historical ‘myth’, ‘(urban) legend’, and fiction. What we find, is that the origin of most Halloween traditions/beliefs comes from latter (historical fiction), rather than the former (historical fact). To say that modern Halloween’s connection to Samhain (that’s “SAH-win” by the way) is incredibly tenuous at best, would be an overstatement. Despite the horror stories one typically hears, the truth is, that painfully little is actually known about it. To attempt to connect Samhain to the traditions of modern Halloween is, for the most part, wishful thinking - it’s just not possible. The connection just isn't anywhere near as strong as some would apparently like it to be, but it seems that this supposed connection is also from where the bulk of the absurdities describing Halloween’s “pagan past” derive. The shift now seems to be away from the erroneous and utterly ludicrous “Samhain as Celtic Lord of the Dead” to the equally erroneous “Samhain as the Celtic Feast of the Dead”. Most accounts we have of Samhain come from early Christian Irish monks who, for obvious reasons, painted it in the worst light possible, embellishing their stories with superstitions that were current in their day. The reality is, that they really knew nothing more of Samhain then than we do today. By most historical accounts, Samhain proper was preceded by three days and followed by three days. Samhain seems to have been a time to honor ancestors, prepare for winter, and celebrate the final harvest of the year. Celebrations even included horse racing. That sounds a lot like most European holidays from October-January. Indeed, the word ‘Samhain’ itself in Irish Gaelic (_Samhuain_ in Scotts Gaelic, and _Sauin_ in Manx Gaelic) simply means “summer’s end”. In these languages, it is also the name for the entire month of November (e.g. _mìos an t-Samhain_ in Scotts Gaelic). Ancient Gaelic texts also speak of it as a time to pay tithing, gather taxes, and a holding of a judicial assembly (much like the Manx ‘Tynwald Day’). There is zero historical evidence that the Celts ever donned animal pelts ("costumes") while celebrating Samhain; that's an old piece of 'misinformation' that people seem to like to perpetuate as the origin of Halloween costumes. It is not. Samhain shares a date with Halloween and perhaps a “feeling”, but really not much more. Indeed, so much of Halloween “feels” Pagan that attempts to connect those things to ancient Samhain simply “feels right”. Indeed, all three holidays, Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and Samhain share a common date and perhaps a “feeling”, but that’s really about it.. Contrary to what some would have one believe, the Bible does not say _anything_ about Halloween - passages (Deuteronomy, Corinthians, and Ephesians seem to be the favorites) are typically cherry-picked, often completely out of context, and applied to a preconceived notion about Halloween based more on myths, legends, outright nonsense, and misconceived assumptions, than actual historical fact. When one participates in Halloween, one is not participating in ‘evil’ or ‘death’ per se; rather one of the points of the modern holiday is to mock these things. I think that’s a major point many people seem to completely miss or not quite understand. In a way, it’s remotely akin to the Medieval “Feast of Fools”. If one wishes to approach it from a Christian viewpoint, it can be said that death is mocked, because Christ conquered death. On another philosophical/psychological level, it allows people to explore their “darker side/psyche”, if you will. A time to explore a side of themselves they would not normally expose or perhaps even consider. It’s a part of being human. A time to play on a few of the basic/core fears of man - fear of the dark, and fear of death - the aspects of these fears that people just don’t like to think about are now exposed for all to ‘see’ and ‘experience’. A sort of annual self-check to make sure that part of our humanity is still there, so to speak. In the end, most people realize it for what it is. Samhain/Halloween is to some people a very spiritual and magickal time of the year; for some it’s a time of fun and candy, perhaps a way to celebrate Fall in general. Still for others, perhaps a time to contemplate their own mortality since the modern holiday mocks death. Some perhaps are not quite sure what to make of it and prefer to steer clear of it, but however you wish to celebrate it….or not - Halloween is only ‘evil’ in the minds of those who choose to make it so.
@BlueMountainTelevision3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughtful response. You are correct there is nothing in the Bible that talks about Halloween directly. However, it does have plenty to say indirectly. If you take out the history of Halloween and just look at the holiday as it is celebrated today, there is nothing in the celebration of Halloween that glorifies God. Halloween seems to glorify Satan and death. I don't feel that those things are safe for Christians to be a part of. The Biblical view of death is distorted in Halloween with idea that the dead can come back and haunt the living. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 make it clear what happens when a person dies. "For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun." As a Christian we shouldn't participate in something that clearly goes against what the Bible teaches. Jesus calls Christians to be separate from the world. That means distancing themselves from worldly things such as Halloween. God even warns us to stay away from such things in Deuteronomy 18:10-12. "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you." That seems pretty clear to stay away from such things. The reason God wants Christians to stay away from these things is so that the Devil doesn't get a foothold in our lives. Satan wants to keep us focused on the dark depressing things of our lives. Jesus is the way , the truth and the life. True joy and freedom comes from Christ. He wants to pull us out of the pit of despair, not have us dwell on it. We are called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Halloween doesn't pass the Philippians 4:8 test. There is no redeeming value in Halloween. It is a tool of the enemy of souls to pull us away from God and focus on the things of this world. In the end each one of us has a decision to make, to serve the gods of this world or the God who made heaven and earth. As Joshua said it in Joshua 24:15 "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
