Wish I'd lived in the Bay Area instead of Pasadena. Loved everything John Cippolina ever did. Would have been a gas to see him live, but thank God for You Tube!

Far East Family Band - “NIPPONJIN (Japanese People)” The songs from “Nipponjin (Japanese People)” - Join Our Mental Phase Sound (on compilation album released in 1976) Music by Fumio Miyashita Arrangement: Far East Family Band Produced by Fumio Miyashita Far East Family Band (1975) Fumio Miyashita: Vocals, Guitars Hirohito Fukushima: guitars Akira Ito: Keyboards Masaaki Takahashi: keyboards (later changes his name to “KITARO” and goes solo) Akira Fukakusa: bass guitar Shizuo Takasaki: Drums Recorded March - May 1975 at Nippon Columbia Main Studio, Tokyo, Japan “NIPPONJIN (Japanese People)” When the dream is over I can’t stay another day ‘Cause for sure I know myself But now I want know where I stand Secluded by the waters I still hear what’s going on There’s no way to go back Now that I hit this road Got to get high The “spirit of harmony between nature and mankind,” born in an isolated island nation with abundant nature and a harsh natural environment at the same time, fits well with the early Pink Floyd-like music. (The spiritual world of Japanese Shinto mythology and the influence of ancient Japanese culture from the Jomon culture born 14,000 years ago.)

Far East Family Band - “The Cave (Chikyu Kudo Setsu/Into a hollow center hole in the earth)” The songs from “NIPPONJIN (Japanese People)” - Join Our Mental Phase Sound (on compilation album released in 1976) Lyrics by J.M. Burkard, Fumio Miyashita Music by Fumio Miyashita Arrangement: Far East Family Band Produced by Fumio Miyashita Far East Family Band (1975) Fumio Miyashita: Vocals, Guitars Hirohito Fukushima: Guitars Akira Ito: Keyboards Masaaki Takahashi: Keyboards (later changes his name to “KITARO” and goes solo) Akira Fukakusa: Bass guitar Shizuo Takasaki: Drums Recorded March - May 1975 at Nippon Columbia Main Studio, Tokyo, Japan “The Cave (Chikyu Kudo Setsu)” Mellow sunlight filtering down nearing evening Zephyr breezes touching gently my soul Mellow sunlight filtering down from above …sky Step by step moving down the way I know It’s gotta be there the house of the sun I know we’re gonna get there the house of the moon I know it’s gotta be there the house of the soul I know we’re gonna get there the Chikyu no Kudoh(into a hollow center hole in the earth) (English translation of the rough meaning of the Japanese lyrics part) Time is passing And everything changes, everything's just a memory Time is passing, no one can stop it The spring wind blows wildly Everything changes and in the end I too will change Mellow sunlight filtering down from above Skylark singing soaring high in the sky Mellow sunlight filtering down from above …sky Step by step moving down the way The World is changing all around us A World for you and you alone The World is changing all around us A World for you and you alone // The mystique of their music has its roots in the ancient Japanese culture that has been handed down in Japan since the Jomon Pottery Age 14,000 years ago and the traditional Japanese Shinto spirituality indigenous to nature worship, which is fused with Pink Floyd-type music. Those two elements blend so well and enchantingly.

The business... a cross between prog and Bowie... so sad that they couldn't hold it together... 2 albums of brilliance....
Thanks for posting. I just read about these guys in the book: "A New Day Yesterday-UK Prog Rock & The 1970's" by Mike Barnes. Good stuff.

I had the honor of seeing them twice. First time with Frank Moreno and Mahogany Rush .2nd time with Ted Nugent . Both were great shows.

Saw a live band called Old School in Nottingham's Running Horse pub on Friday nights in the mid 80s, and they always played this. Absolute epic track. Knew it was a version of Argent's song but could never find 'this' until about 2 years ago. Thank you KZbin! Thank you Capability Brown!
