Very good in depth review of this affordable microscope.

We can make one with parchment paper (wax paper for cooking) as a screen. The mirror is only for convenient (to avoid getting the image on top of the microscope). It look high tech, but it's very basic. Nice piece nevertheless!

Maybe at 4x and maximum brightness and maximum iso on your camera? And/or put your dslr on a tripod and get a longer exposure, in a dark room and take a picture.

I'll be honest that I don't know a lot about this technique, but that said it seems like he came into this with a very strong bias against it. As a practitioner of cranial sacral therapy there are so many medical people who think it's absolute BS. But when you work on a 10-year-old's head and in 50 minutes fix their flat arches and ankle pain by releasing birth trauma caused by forceps … That's just one story of hundreds… it creates a certain level of humility that can leave one very much more open-minded to possibilities. And where is the scientific validation for my work???… Who the hell is gonna pay for it? And now after a spinal cord injury I'm doing my work energetically and long-distance over zoom. Just saying…

This video is 3 years old, I don't know if you will respond, but your "optic" is flawed, I'm on the market to buy a microscope, I want to look at full of things, the water in my basement, of the lake, of the river... I want to look at a ton of things, including insects eyes, mosquitoes, flies, .... and take pictures and videos of it, for my pleasure, but I heard if you get a microscope that can do "darkfield microscopy" I could be looking at my blood cells, so I might as well look for one of those, so I am looking and stumbled on your channel, you seemed an honest guy, so I figured you are knowledgeable and I found this video, and I will say this, I am disappointed at your explanations, you should not refuse to do an analysis of the available microscopes, it's not for you to decide what people will want to do in their use of microscopes, I know I wont use it to try to make any diagnostic with it, but I would love to have a video and pictures of my blood, my wife's all my kids, and compare them, hell one of my son has a PhD in biochemistry and he is also an MD... I don't want to ask him, he plays with equipments way out of my range, I am not a professional, but I would like to have my own, and have fun with it... I have pictures of the moon, people love them and often asked me where I bought the pictures, I tell them I MADE THEM with my equipment, I MADE THE FRAMES in my little shop, and if you want a copy, I will give all of them to you and you can make your own frame...people like to do their own stuff...making a telescope is one thing, very long process to make the mirrors, but making a microscope is nearly impossible for a home hobbyist, but he can make crazy pictures of his blood cells and put it in a frame... There are so many available microscopes in the $300-$1000 range, your help would have been appreciated...but you won't, and that is sad!

much more peopl buy a telescope rather than a microscope, because with a telescope you can also have a look at nice ladies in the the neigborhood, that cannot be done with a microscope

there are many reasons why there are more astronomy hobbyists than microscopers. But you cannot compare microscopy with astronomy because microscopy has a laboratory on earth for experiments that astronomy does not have and it is much more frustrating when you look at the pictures on internet taken by the space telescope comparing it with yours

Fascinating, I didn't realise the condenser aperture affects the dof of the image. It's one of the main considerations of aperture in photography, but I didn't realise the diaphragm being separated from the objective would allow it to have an effect.

I will need to buy a microscope soon - so thanks for all the videos, helped a lot. What I understood is, that the objecties are pretty much the same in low cost to medium quality microscopes. But what I know e.g. from PCs is that it is not only the compounds but the configuration and how they work together which makes the difference. So isn't it also about the whole setup or the way all the compounds are put together and are aligned? Just thinking... I would need to differntiate between soil organisms. Bacteria, fungi, protozoa and nematodes.

I own two American Optical microscopes, one cost me $125.00 and the other was $85.00 on Ebay. They are both about 50 years old but they work great for everything I want them for. These were high dollar professional grade microscopes back in the 70's when they were made. Still many miles left in them.

here a may different ways to make microscopic documentation. The silliest way is to make permanent slides. Today we can make fotos and videos in a cheap fast and easy way. But the best way to make microscopic documentation is to draw by hand what you see.

I also made a similar adapter long time ago but I noticed that the internal surface of the adapter was reflecting light creating disturb to the image reflect d on the ccd sensor somI had to stick on the internal surface a kind of rubber in order to obtain the required anti-glare effect. Did you experience anything like this with your adapter?

About things changing shape, I can prove to you that they do. I have video and photos, I don’t now what it is but it changes shape and color and it’s very fast too. I think as soon as it changes with oxygen it temp it transforms. If you would like to see this, reply and let me know where to send the videos.

My live blood sample (under very clean conditions, dust free, vents sucking air out, new gloves worn) is strange. I’m RH- not sure if that makes a difference but my blood starts growing black fuzz looking stuff around it and as it cracks around the ends, the cracks sides get black too. It’s not a one time thing, it’s happened each time.

can you tell me how you zoom in on different creatures/samples on the camera? I bought a microscope and the optics themselves don't zoom in even x100 like you show on KZbin

still no reflective illumination with any of the microscopes (excluding the macroscope on the left of course). Do you have any recommendation for a transmission AND reflection microscope?
