I'm pretty sure there is a way to test them. If removing the resistor from the circuit made the fan work, I'd say it's safe to say the resistor is bad.

Why not unhook the fuel line before the motor, hook up a drain hose to the fuel line and turn the key on? The electric fuel pump in the tank will pump the gas out for you. OR Go buy a cheap inline electric fuel pump ($10-$15) and hook it to a hose, then shove it into the tank and drain it that way.
@ArcticVetteАй бұрын
@@MrDozer120 Did you watch the full video? I did end up using an electric pump. It worked great! Using the fuel pump itself isn't a bad idea, but you wouldn't want to empty it completely that way. You shouldn't ever run the tank empty because of the debris at the bottom of the tank. It could clog the pump or ruin it for good. I've replaced a few of these before my KZbin says, due to that issue.
@MrDozer120Ай бұрын
@@ArcticVette Yes, I did watch the whole video. I've looked at those pumps myself and walked away. In my opinion, using a cheap inline pump with some hose is a better solution. True, running a tank dry isn't good for the pump, but it's not because of the trash they pick up. There is a sock on the pick up tube to stop that. If the particles are small enough to pass through it then they won't hurt the pump. Pumps get hurt when the tank runs dry because the gas cools the pump. Running it dry once or twice won't kill the pump. I had a truck with dual tanks but the gauge only worked for one. I ran that tank dry at least a dozen times before the pump gave up the ghost. I didn't mean to offend you, I just asked a couple questions and threw out some ideas. Keep up the good work. You have to be doing something right for the youtube algorithm to put you on my feed.😀
@ArcticVetteАй бұрын
Awesome! I wanted to make sure you seen I did use one instead of the hand pump the entire time. 😅 That's good to know. I've always heard its from the debris, never about cooling the pump. That makes a lot of sense though, and I appreciate you sharing it with us! Thank you and God bless!

My 1988 Toyota pickup started giving me the check engine light that would flash off and on but never stay on or throw a code in the computer. The light would only stay on a second or two and it wasn't a constant thing so I never knew when it would act up. The engine usually would stumble and lose power when it did so. After ruling out any electrical problems I just made a wild guess and decided the gas had water in it which was causing the computer to think the air/fuel ration was too lean and so was retarding the timing. I used some marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank and it solved the problem. Hooray for lucky guessing. Now I always add some of that to the gas tank each time I fill up the tank and of course I stopped buying my gas at the place that had the water in the tank.

Would it be a good idea to put the trans cooler in-line with the return line as opposed to the feed line. If the trans fluid is cooled, the routed back through the hot radiator wouldn't it reheat the trans fluid?
@ArcticVette2 ай бұрын
Yes, and that's how I did mine. The top line on the transmission is the return (from radiator), the top transmission line on the radiator is the return. So I ran it from the top radiator line to the cooler, from the cooler back to the (top) transmission line. That way the radiator cooled it first, then the fluid cooled even more in the cooler itself. I haven't seen high temps since, were around 180f
