I always did like this game, I used to get an enemy to chase me and go under the rock just at the right distance from it and have the rock crush the enemy, such a fun game.

I'm sad they only did this once in the US version and never did it again! This was one of the games from the OG Whose Line that deserved better!

This makes me want to try this game out :) What kind of control were you using? It looks like it was designed to use two analog sticks, like the Battle Zone arcade game, Where you control forward/back on each tread individually/directly, but it seemed like you were having trouble steering the tank. I can imagine it'd be a horror story to try and drive it with a single joystick or singlecontrol pad
@lowellriggsiam2 ай бұрын
First off the game does two analog controllers like Battle Zone. I mapped the controls to the two joysticks on a 3rd party Xbox One controller.
@chrischaf2 ай бұрын
lol okay, I tried it. I used an xbox one controller since it has dual analog sticks, and remapped the fire button to the trigger so I didn't have to take a thumb off a stick to fire, and I gotta say, it was *hard* to control the tank very well. I doubt it would have been nearly as hard to control in the actual arcade, because those would have been *long throw* analog sticks, whereas the xb control sticks are very *short throw*. So, basically, it's very difficult to manage much in the way of *subtle* control changes, and the treads react *quite fast*, so it'd take a lot of practice, or something with longer sticks, to make this as easy to control as, like, battlezone in the arcade.

@@lowellriggsiam I guess I was still writing my second comment while you were replying to my first ;P I hope you didn't take what I wrote as offensive, it wasn't meant that way. It *looked* like you were having difficulty controlling the tank accurately, and the way it appeared, looked very much like how a game that *originally* had dual controls, like battlezone and such, but then got ported over to a system that used, like, one joystick. Those different control schemes just don't translate very well. But after doing it myself, using a dual stick controller, I could see very well how difficult it *still* was to control, even with dual analog, in a case where you are using short sticks like I was, on an xb pad. With short sticks, the way it drives/appears on-screen very much *does* look like (effectively mimic) trying to play a dual stick game on a single stick. I think to make this control work the way it should, one would either have to use longer sticks (maybe some good ol' duct tape and some chop sticks? lol I joke, but that might work! :D) or somehow manage to alter the acceleration curve of the analog sticks, basically making them more sensitive near the outer edge of their travel, and much less sensitive near the center, rather than the default, which is a somewhat linear response. Anyway, I wasn't meaning to say it looked like you were playing badly or anything like that. It just looked like you were having trouble controlling it, which made me wonder if there was something odd, or wrong, with whatever control interface you were using. I'm a bit of a mechanic by nature and sometimes build and/or modify controllers. So when the tank was moving "funny" on screen, I suspected a control issue. As in, "mechanical error", rather than "Pilot error" That's all :) Anyway, cool to see someone playing some classic arcade games ~~^_^ Take care and have a great day! :D
