Glad to hear you feel at home on Iona, the spirits of the Celtic saints have welcomed you. I sometimes pine for Ireland where most of my ancestors came from to America. I was able to visit it unlike my father who wished but never did. We are all exiles in this world before passing to a better place. I am glad you found it there.

Have prayed the akathist to the Theotokos, "Softener of Evil Hearts", before realizing I was really praying for my own evil heart to be softened - such as you also pray for. May Christ rescue us all from this evil generation 🙏 ☦️☦️☦️ thank you Fr. Seraphim and monastics for your prayers

What a beautiful Saint. I met someone when I was traveling over the summer that struck me because they had an unusual amount of love for everyone they encountered and it was natural and genuine not just kindness. I thought it was so lovely and I realized I didn’t have that. I am failing in this.I have been carrying that around since the summer...trying to change that part of me. I very much liked what you said…may we all try our very best to have a heart like that. To love everyone without even hearing them say a word and to love our enemies who speak words against us.

I know what you mean, dear one. On at least two occasions I have been in the presence of people who must have been so raptured by inner prayer that my heart could not stop praying when I was around them. It had nothing to do with my desire to pray. In fact, in at least one of the two occasions I fought against it, because we were in public and the proximity of this person made me cry and I could not control my crying. It is as if one enters a spiritual shield coming emanating from these people and their inner state becomes your own while you are around them.

I know the 'techie editing' :) is not necessary, dear one. I want it for the main channel because it takes away part of the pressure for me. For some reason, if my brain focuses on the editing, I now longer collapse under the pressure of having to record something. It's like when you have a pain and you willingly create another pain in your body - for a brief while, you no longer feel the main pain. I know it's silly, but I need to do these things to keep going.

Most of our icons on Iona are painted on glass, in the peasant style of Northern Romania. They have a childish innocence and immediacy which often is lost in more professional-looking iconography, and they grab my heart better.
