My S.O. has a coworker that hates pickle water and I made some liquid core dice so he could antagonize him, like a good gf would. I used the "oil and water" method for the inside of the cores along with slices from a pickle cane I made for dollhouse miniatures. It ended up working out great there.

I was trying to get a mica drop that also had the tendrill effect of petri in the same dice with mixed results. I tried doing clear resin. doing petri on top then pouring the micah through it. Tried it the other way around. Very inconsistant but cool when it does work. I tried using the micah instead of the white to drag the alcohol ink down and that went ok. The only issue that I ran into really is that every time I tried, as I poured the micah resin onto the top of the dice it immediately sank under the alcohol ink.

This is a hugely insightful look into how to make these amazing dice. I’m currently looking to buy or make multiple d6 dice (around 20) for the wargaming I play but everything is from America or Europe and would cost me almost $200 for 3 d6 dice alone but a pressure cooker, moulds and other tools needed to create my own would be around $150. Is it worth learning how to make them over spending thousands to get the handful of dice I need? Also would it be possible to fix the ball in place with some sort of pins to have balanced dice and then fill in the holes with a resin in a second pour/vacuum afterwards or would it effect the first pour?
@alchemistsattic11 күн бұрын
I use spheres that just barely touch the indent of the numbers in the mold- they do a good job of making sure the sphere is centered so they're balanced :). Whether you want to make dice or not is going to be up to you, though, and how much time you have, and whether you think you'd enjoy it. Dice take a good amount of time to make, but it's a fun process. If you think it's worth the time and effort then I say go for it! If you do decide you want to order some, d6s instead, though, (and aren't in the EU- they had some regulation changes recently that I'm still getting worked out) don't hesitate to reach out. I do a lot of custom dice, including d6s ( alchemists-attic.com/products/custom-six-sided-dice ) As a note. If you do decide to make your own dice, I don't know if a pressure cooker would work. I think most of them use steam, and you don't want the resin getting wet- it won't cure if it gets wet.

Great video - thanks for the inspiration! I am relatively new to dice making (just had a 'memory' pop up yesterday that we unmolded our first set one year ago yesterday!) and hoping to move ahead to do more of this....trying to find the time with my 'real job' that pays the bills currently is a hard one, but fingers crossed! Would love for it to become my main source of income. Definitely trying out the Milk Bath technique - have NEVER heard of it or seen it before!

What is a pressure pot?
@darkfranky119933Ай бұрын
It's basically the same as a pressure cooker but instead of using heat to increase pressure, you pump air into it. The pressure causes bubbles to be compressed so small that they become invisible. Once the resin cures, the bubbles will be kept small at normal atmospheric pressure. It takes hours but it results on a more crystal clear result

Hopefully I'll have more on the way soon! I know that I've slowed down a bit on editing things recently, but today's project is working on editing my next video :D. So how do you keep your cores from sinking to the bottom of the dice or are you using spheres that are proportional to the dice?

stunning ! and I've been curious about the process of liquid core dice, so this is really neat to see :)
@abschiedsbrief2 ай бұрын
very cool, but one thing about dice... they should be perfectly balanced. the way these are made can't really be used to play stuff with. they'll always land on specific numbers cause of the weight distribution
@voidmatic2 ай бұрын
the majority of dice (unless you're talking hollow or like.. INCREDIBLY well made one in a million) aren't _perfectly_ balanced. factory made, handmade, there's always going to be slight discrepancy. liquid core dice are known to actually be a bit more balanced due to the fact that instead of random materials inside, the liquid is a solid ball, which distributes weight a bit better. it's _very_ unlikely you'd notice a difference.
