The concept of "enjambment" isn’t foreign to me. I love that it has a name. I’m sure Tom Lehrer used it a lot.

Hmm i dont understand ... why is there an f# in C major
@AimeeNolteКүн бұрын
That’s the #11 and jazz musicians use it all the time over major chords because it’s extra bright and beautiful 💙

why do all bait videos show someone looking at something, surprised with their mouth open?
@AimeeNolte2 күн бұрын
If it was a bait video, I would’ve been paid by Yamaha and given some kind of link and I would’ve gotten paid by how many people click the link. This is just a genuine video of me liking a product and that was my honest face. :-)

Please consider creating an analysis of Talk Talk, It's My Life. It flows so nicely sonically but there's some complexity in the chords.

yeah tunes hinders progress if anything. just drill them intervals in an app like toned ear or something if you really want it but if you practice music youll eventually just hear them no need to drill them auditorily. well you kinda do, but its better to not make it explicit, this is why transcribing is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. you drill everything while actually getting somewhere. Also, sing it. If you cant sing it you cant play it. Period, point blank. Put some drone note and (singing) arpeggiate chords, scales you fancy, etc. this is why jazz players are regarded as crazy but the same very reason it works. if you see someone scatting some solo and getting most of it just about right, that person will have much less of a hard time transcribing that section than someone that's not as vocal (provided they dont have perfect pitch ofc) transcribing and vocalizing/audiating are fn huge in my opinion. Drilling intervals alone is kind of pointess because you wont hear an isolated 4th for example in a line. instead of going oh this is a 4th, this is another 4th etc, if you recognize instantly how a quartal line goes or how a quartal chord sounds like, if you can hear a pentatonic line in an instant, if you distinguish diminished shit etc if you can pick appart chromatisms, intervals are kind of secondary because you already have the gist of it

Great video! I Love the Eagles, and I've yet to see them live, last time the tix were >$800, eek. I'm a Christian and Rock guitarist who plays keys as my second instrument and learned about you from Rick Beato. Great job on recording the song. For me, it's "Wasted time" and the Wasted Time reprise, but this gives me a new appreciation for New Kid In Town. The theater we go to all the time has a display with a Jackson Browne signed copy of "Take it Easy". I knew about JD Souther, but I never realized how many artists worked together until I bought a new guitar amp called a Matchless Laurel Canyon. I looked up the Laurel Canyon music scene - the Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Byrds, The Mamas and the Papas, all lived in the same little neighborhood in Laurel Canyon, and all hung out together writing, partying, playing music, romancing, etc. Joni Mitchell was their defacto Queen.

It literally never occurred to me that you could use Locrian for just a bar or two over one chord and then come back out of it for the rest of the song. I was always like, "Locrian is ugly, how could I possibly make a whole song out of it?" But the whole point that you made me realize is that you totally don't have to do it for a whole song and you showed me that it could sound beautiful, which is really, really cool.

Fantastic. You are great. First, you know the songs cold and you sing well; second, you play enough of the harmony on the piano to make it real; third, I think your choice of tunes is really good -- a lot of variety. Your transitions/segues are very good, very musical. The fact that you have the Bossa Nova tunes AND On Green Dolphin Street on your list is impressive. Please keep it up. < red heart emoji >
