I needed to learn a certain song a couple years ago, and although I was fine with most of it, I was hung up on the piano solo part of it. I looked and looked everywhere and I couldn't find any sheet music or video tutorials for it. Finally, I found a Synthesia video of it, so I painstakingly wrote down all the notes in the solo and then memorized them. I felt so dirty! It was like memorizing Pi to a hundred decimal places. It was an awful way to learn but it got the job done and even today I feel shame for admitting I learned one song that way. I'm good at reading sheet music but Synthesia just dumbs me down.

Depending on the key, I would just try to work it out so that you are mostly using your first finger and third finger and second finger until you get to the bottom

Hi Aimee. Thanks for the great tribute to "Floyd Cramer." I became a fan of his back in the early seventies. "First Date" was the one that hooked me on his playing. Short note: I started playing piano at age 20 but ended up going into a radio announcing career for many years. I have finally picked the piano back up after forty some years. The guy that taught me originally taught me octaves and chords immediately. I hadn't forgotten the major chords I had learned. I love your channel. I gain a lot from it. Back to Floyd Cramer. I so appreciate the history you gave of this wonderful pianist. He was always a favorite. I remember when he did an LP that had a cover of "Rhythm of the Rain." Man, what a tune. So, I got to do two things in my life I loved. I was in broadcast radio for many years in many different formats. Then, over a year ago I started playing piano again. Your channel has taught me a lot. I have a long way to go but I found that lead sheets help me a lot. You do an amazing job of teaching chords. I feel that's where it's at. If you have a good chord structure and a melody line, it can make the difference. Again, thank you for your amazing videos and know that I get so much out of them. And, I really loved the interview with Rick Beato. I am not a guitar player and don't have the talent for it (plus I'm left handed which doesn't help unless you are Hendrix or McCartney). but that dual KZbin chat was great. Keep up the good work. I so appreciate what you are doing. I am learning a lot. Best to you.

Very nice! Thanks 😊🙏🏻 Thinking closely I think in the the starting chords there is a modal Interchange putted in some chords of a circle of fifth that, without It, it would be boring. 🤔

I have no idea why people think they need to drop out for a bass solo. Maybe it's because it's low in pitch and they think it'll be heard better. (Which is dumb). It's simple. State the time. Keep the groove. And if there's no drummer LAY DOWN QUARTER NOTES! Don't be stabbing on off beats. Don't leave empty spaces. Something needs to be a reference. And easy with the subs. Let the bass create the variations.

"Down by the Riverside," like a lot of civil rights songs, is an old African American spiritual (spirituals predated gospel and tended to be acapella, including a lot of call and response, etc.). Kudos to her for calling on that tradition.

Johan Sebastian Bach is the most influensal by Rock musician.

Every musician borrow from their big Idols and make it their own... Beatles admitted that´s the normal procedure if smart. Harrison´s My sweet Lord have depth and a uprising beat which totally lacking in "He´s so Fine" it´s dull and almost boring. If you piff it up and make it interesting then should not be suid. I believe in this case it was coincidal, Yesterday is actually a Nat King Cole song Paul have subconsciously heard in radio when was little even he asked around if borrowed in Abbey Road no one could recollect it. I´m glad u don´t use word "Steal" the word borrow is much better many successful composers use a leadmodel as a basement/inspiration and change it to complete different thing.

I'm quit sure that Db in the intro is actually a BbMaj7. Also, the Chorusending with B half Dim7 raises to a B7 flat 5.

The thing that always gets me with this song is the FMaj7 to B7 to BbMaj7. That unexpected lift with the B7 chord is an incredible effect.

Absolutely. And it’s really just the tri-tone substitute for the V7 of IV. Not even that fancy but it just oozes with feeling in that context.

I thought i had to figure out the melody first to secondly realize the chords. If i had a was to Find out the key it would be even easier. What i Find out frequently is that the chords i find for song in guitar is not something i agree when i play it on the piano. I am a little deaf. There are notes in songs i cannot sing. i can sing when there's somebody singing and i follow. There's a song by Bob Dylan " one more cup of coffee for the road", i can sing listening to a girl singing . I am soprano. Now i am working on a song that must sound medieaval. The lyrics is a poem by Rudyard Kipling "Cold Iron". I found a rendition that is more Christian. It's a Christian song that must sound mediaeval like Gregorian chant. It will be a lot of work as don't know much music . I am trying. Never thought "Eleanor Rigby" had lots of Em. My family is not music family at all. We had music instruments at home that we never touched. I feel that I am much more a duty to study logic and mathematics and anthropology as a Catholic Christian. They had a lot from humanity. There a lots of things that humanity has to know about itself to go ahead in the civilisatory process. First of all get rid of stasi in the world and mafias, they are almost the same. Not government just oppression. The lonely people are the ones who refuse to join the mob. Stasi can only exist with haters . Lots of songs have been written against such a cruelty, but nobody listens to poets. Art is a way to correct to wrongs in humanity. Thanks for the class on chords .

One of the greatest arrangers of his time. His live album in '86 has four versions of "Is She Really Going Out With Him", all different arrangements, all excellent.
@UrbanGarden-rf5op3 күн бұрын
Christmas present of the year😎 The arrangement reminds me a lot of J S Bach's inventions. Especially clear when you play the lines on piano. A lot of counterpoint going on there. Bach was the original funkateer. And finally a well deserved break for the bass player. 'tis the time to get merry. Watched the extended version on Nebula, of course. ✌✌
