What are the contraindications for sugaring or waxing?
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute 2 ай бұрын
For Sugaring there are not too many - the most important contraindications include but are not limited to skin injury such as open wounds, cuts, viral infection, etc. Also consider current Accutane use a contraindication. Please review client medication and medical history on a case by case basis, but I have successfully Sugared on skin even with medical conditions such as HS, eczema/psoriasis, and pregnancy. Fortunately, since Sugaring is so gentle on the skin, most clients can move forward with the treatment without an issue. Waxing is a bit more strict since there is heat applied and the skin can risk lifting (ex. cannot be used on Retin-A treated skin). Please always use your best judgement and refer to your State Board's guidelines.

During the summer what temperature would you say to keep the room in order for the sugar to not be running everywhere?
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute 2 ай бұрын
Great question. Sometimes it is hard to control room temp in the summer - however the ideal temp is always 69-72 degrees F no matter the season. Air circulation is important, so if a good A/C system is not an option, opt for a standing or handheld fan to remedy this. Always adjust your Sugar temp and paste selection based on the room temp - the hotter is is, the cooler and harder your Sugar paste should be to prevent melting. I have recently posted a Sugaring temp video that deep dives into this topic.

BUT YOURE HEATING UP PLASTIC? Hmm…
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute 2 ай бұрын
Yes. It is not heated up to a high temp, rather just "warmed" up closer to lukewarm water. Also, the plastic is BPA Free, and the Sugar is not being consumed, so if you get coffee in a To-Go cup at any point, you are definitely consuming more micro plastics and PFAS than getting a Sugaring treatment. I am, however, interested in the idea of having Sugar paste stored in a glass container, but I can imagine the logistical nightmare that this would be for companies selling Sugar paste. Not only to carefully store and transport safely to buyers, factoring in the loss of many broken jars, and the higher shipping costs that would incur to mail heavy packages of glass Sugar containers. This would drive up the cost of services significantly for customers as the shipping charges would increase the cost of operations for businesses. Alas, until a Sugar manufacturer remedies all of these concerns, we are stuck with the plastic containers, which I am not too upset about.

Great details . What temperature is the medium paste do you use ? Did you also warm the soft paste? if so what is the suitable temperature. I find some paste becomes too warm.
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute 2 ай бұрын
Hello, great question. I warm my Medium up usually at around a 3 on my Sweet and True double Warmer. Keep in mind, the paste temp selection will depend on the season (room temp), and how full the jar is. In summer I do not heat my Soft, but in winter I keep in it the lowest heat. A full jar necessitates being kept at a higher heat to remain the right temp than one that is almost empty. I recently did a deep dive on Sugar paste temps on my channel, please take a look.

Hello! I know a lot of people like to use things like corn starch, baby powder, arrowroot starch, etc on its own. If it works for you that is great! However, I have noticed that when I use things like this, I don't get the best absorption of moisture and my Sugaring ultimately doesn't work as well as when I use the Pixie Protection Powder from Sweet and True. The way it is blended really makes a great absorbent formula that is also non-toxic. I am always trying new things however, and I am not sponsored in any way by this company, but I will continue using this product until I find one that works the same or better.

How hard is the skill if you had to grade it from 1-10? About how long would you say it took you master it enough to take clients?
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute 2 ай бұрын
It's a hard question to answer - because everyone has a different skill level coming in to learning. I imagine it might be a 3 for some people and a 9 for others. What your background is will influence how long it will take you to learn. Also, some people just naturally have a more steady and/or gentle hand. The most important trait that will get you to a Pro level - is determination and PATIENCE. That is key. However, starting from totally 0 experience, I would recommend a minimum of 3 months committed consistent practice to learn enough to be proficient and take paying clients. I am very particular, however, and I didn't start working on paid clients until I practiced for 7 months straight, and I also had a background in skincare.

I binge watched a couple of your videos last night and I was able to wax my legs last night thank you. I have some Some questions if you can answer. How do you know it’s time to throw away your wax ball, does the wax get harder to move in your fingers with hair in it after waxing an area like the legs, what’s the fastest time to wax legs, arms, Brazilian it took me 2 hours to do both my legs, and If you can share tips on how to hold the wax in your hands so it’s not all over the gloves, fingers and palms. Thank you for your videos !
@hyraniinstitute
@hyraniinstitute Жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you, I am so glad my videos have helped in your Sugaring journey. You will know it's time to ditch your Sugar ball once the Sugar has texturally changed enough that it is too difficult to mold. If the Sugar is too hard, it will be difficult to spread across the skin, so you will need to replace the ball at that point. This can happen when the ball is full of hair, or if the Sugar paste you selected was too hard and has gotten really difficult to spread. Times vary depending on the waxer AND the client - some clients can take half the time of others, and that's OK! You will get faster the more you practice and continue to hone your skill. My recommendation is don't rush it - quality over speed! You can speed Sugar by grabbing more Sugar paste and covering a larger area (once you feel comfortable doing so). When holding the Sugar, aim to keep the Sugar ball below the knuckle. If the Sugar drips down to your palm, it will make the job a bit more difficult. But, sometimes it happens and it's OK. You can deposit the Sugar on your palm onto the client (where they don't have hair) and pick it back up on your fingers if needed. However, once you get used to swirling the Sugar in your hand and keeping the ball on your fingertips, this won't happen often. Happy Sugaring!

What does upwards look like because it looks like your pulling upwards how does parallel look like
@hyraniinstitute

Upwards would be flicking straight up, in which case the Sugar would not flick off and it would pull the skin, causing a bruise. I am flicking parallel to the skin to achieve the most painless removal. When flicking down the leg you will be flicking towards the foot.

Hello, I found your channel because I a researching sugaring. I am going on vacation and wanted to get my first waxing and heard about Sugaring. So, living in NYC I am looking for a Sugaring Salon to do my underarms and bikini area. I also just started using Dr. Bronzers but only on my body not face. I do double cleanse oil or balm but I am using a organic bar soap afterwards. Yikes. Do you any good sugaring salons here in NYC. Plus what cleansers would you suggest.

Hi Lisa! That's great that you're looking into Sugaring, it's the best form of hair removal, hands down! I don't know of any Sugaring salons in NY but I know it is getting popular over there so I would just research the area and check the reviews before booking. I love Dr. Bronners - I have been an avid user of their soap for over 15 years (but for body only, never for the face). There are many great products on the market, but my favorites for a double cleanse at the moment are the Farmacy Green Clean followed by the Pacifica Kale Detox. These products are suitable for most skin types.

Hello Melissa, thanks for your comment. It is very important not to contaminate the Sugar container, which is why I only ever touch the skin with my left glove (non-Sugaring hand) and never with the right glove. I will dip in to the Sugar container with the right glove that has never touched the skin. If by chance I do contaminate the glove by touching something that was not sanitized, I will change gloves before dipping into the Sugar jar.

Yes, to avoid spreading of the Sugar past the control point on your glove, try to keep all the Sugar contained below the knuckles. If some gets past, you can always spread the Sugar you have across the skin and pick it back up in a neater, smaller shape. Keep the thumb connected to the fingertips moving in a circular motion while not applying to the skin to keep it in the control point.
