Is this a military version of the jet?
@SanDiegoPlanespottingАй бұрын
Yes and no, its a civilian company that flies with military equipment.

If you didn’t know so far, that plane was in an emergency land landing due to us false alarm of smoke coming from an engine

I saw this very plane landing at NAS North Island on Thursday, Sept 12. Looking up whether any branch of the US Military operates these I found nothing except that the Caribou was retired in 1985. You can see this plane in Google maps too, who's is it?? It has to be military since it operates without callsign and doesn't appear on FlightAware.

@@SanDiegoPlanespotting sorry for asking despite it being in the title, it's just That i guess I should have asked rather what the "F/A" and "18D & 18C" mean as It's my first time hearing about aircraft described like that

I had a young Marine Aviator as a neighbor in Texas. He was in the Osprey pipeline. Great guy, and his wife was a sweetheart. I still worry about them.

Living in North County SD my entire life, The CH-53 was a daily constant. I was 4 years old when the CH-53 entered service. I'm 46 now and the 53's are still around.. occasionally lol. CH-53K King Stallion set to enter service sometime in the 2020's. New engines, new composite rotor blades and wider cabin. I sure hope the new engines sound the same!!

One of the ospreys was flying over my house this week, also saw one flying over the Beltway around DC. It looks like they're only flying them in the helicopter configuration not tilting the props.

Interesting, looks like the top intake is open. Short field landings I suspect. I guess no hover? Haven't seen them do that yet other than airshows.
