Hello. I used this script to load manhunt 1 skeleton. the skeleton for manhunt is in the bottom view. if i move the bones around to match the mesh orientation will that break it ? or the skeleton is modifiable?

This looks incredible, I remember a Star Wars lightsaber mod for GTA SA from 2016, would it be possible if I could show how you can create an object like that? I see that in your tutorials there are new scripts in current versions of 3d max, although in those years of the mod I doubt that they were the same scripts and methods, if you could guide me or make a tutorial I would greatly appreciate it.

I imagine it's just a bunch of this type of neon placed on the same axis and rotated ever so slightly, in a radial formation, like a cog wheel if viewed from the above. This could create an illusion of it being a volumetric lightsaber but would look a bit fake when viewed from the end of the lightsaber. You can join MTA discord for general modeling/modding questions and see if someone can walk you through creating this model if you want

It mostly depends on what you are wanting to learn and specialize in. Modeling for GTA isn't very different from modeling for any other game or industry, it's just topology rules and shading rules that you need to consider for GTA modeling. There are lots of resources online as well as a few on my channel for modeling. Currently I am teaching how to modify assets and not so much how to model from scratch, but that will change once I have covered most of the basics. MTA SA has a modeling channel where I and others are active in. Link in video description or search for MTA in discord server discovery

Check the intro of this video for a fix kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXiwkpRtiZ1qg7c - without this fix you need to force close 3ds max with task manager If you're on 3ds Max 2025 or newer then the updated Kam's scripts by Goldfish has these script issues fixed

As mentioned in the video, I recommend using the old Scanline renderer for its simplicity and speed, and Arnold for production if you are able to learn how to use it efficiently. Apart from Scanline I have used Mental Ray and Arnold across a few videos in this channel, for example Mental Ray for "MTA SA Custom Environment Rigs" and Arnold for "Mixamo to MTA" intro - but these can get complicated. I have guides coming for some of these render engines, not Mental Ray unfortunately as it no longer ships with Max.

I want to point out that models can use both Vertex Prelights and Lightmaps, which by the way I recommend doing, even if it's just to add a base grey vertex color. This helps adjust the brightness of the lightmap if it's looking washed out or too bright. You can also experiement with Light flag which adds extra exposure by default. It's not possible to use Extra Vertex Colors though, because the game engine can only handle Vertex Prelights + Lightmapping OR Vertex Prelights + Extra Vertex Colors, due to there being a limit on how many mesh channels can be in use

Have you watched guide ID 95? In the beginning it shows how to prelight an interior. Guide ID 98 (the upcoming guide) might help as well. I have an interior prelight guide planned, and it should be out in the coming months.

You can also use "sky" in omni bar to set the base light color (0:56). Great video, could be very important for every modeller since prelight is the worst nightmare for almost everyone without this knowledge!

A 3ds max developer told me that they had changed the color management in 2024+, so the old 8bit colors were replaced with full float precision. This is more of an industry standard these days. The only way we can use the "old" values is clicking the Scene mode in color picker. This works on a 0-100% scale. The old scale was 0-255. So if we were accustomed to using a value of 120 for daylight prelight, then 120 would convert to 47.06% so we would write 0,4706 in the scene value slot. The display value would not be 120 now but higher than that, but that's not a problem because it's the same result we'd get in 2023. Hope this makes sense
