Side note - Dwarf Nest spawning can be disabled by building a 4m radius roof around the spawner, allowing you to work without Dwarfs constantly attacking you.

This is a simple and great build. I have ended up with 5 in the roof space instead of 2 -they stack up to 3 high while dying since I have 1 stars and they take a little longer. We'll just extend our top floor tomorrow and that should fix it. Super productive -thanks.

Are some of the infernals that spawn supposed to burn the vines? every time i turn the pigs into pigmen some infernals spawn and one of their potion effects always burns all the vines

Very nice, although I tend to go whole hog on my greydwarf farm so I can use the same facility as a blood magic autotrainer later, which this design cant do. I'm surprised that the spawner keeps spawning though- My experience with the spawners says they stop spawning if there's a roof above them. Any idea why this one doesnt stop spawning even though its roofed? Could it be because its still touching the ground while the pit-style farms arent?

Ok, this is neat, and I'm sure it works, but I'm not fond of it just as it is because of its slow speed. Once you have the 2 layers and 8 eggs theyre at max pop and they'll stop laying till the eggs have hatched and the chicks have grown up and fallen down to the slaughter area, which takes 3 game days overall, plus whatever time it takes one to fall through to the killing floor. So basically you get 8 chicken meat every 3 days which is... slow. It also doesnt allow for much egg production, if you're a double-stamina food guy and want to make omelettes. However, the fix seems relatively easy- Add another 8m of height between the laying hens and the egg floor. That should keep the laying hens far enough from the eggs that they never reach the population cap and keep laying. Lot more eggs laid per time and thus a lot more chickens and eggs for the harvesting player according to need. The only question is how the greater number of chickens on the egg floor will interact with the holes down to the killing floor. Perhaps someone who tries the taller design can tell us. I think the drop straight down 10+m to the floor build is better for most PRACTICAL purposes- lots more chickens and/or eggs per time, and its not like its difficult or time consuming to slaughter your own chickens personally. If you prefer decorative appeal and 8 chicken meat every 3 days is sufficient for you then by all means go for this design. For warmth, instead of a brazier I'd just use a campfire inside a wooden chimney with a gap in the side just above the fire. Campfire on- eggs are warm and hatch. Place a floorpiece just above the campfire so its permanently choked- campfire is off and the eggs dont hatch so you can stock up for your omelettes if you're a 2-stam food player. And just break that floor piece whenever you want meat. I do like the laying hens eating through the floor just above them. I'll have to incorporate that into my design. Its not difficult to feed hens without it, but it can prevent the occasional whoops. I'll have to test that with boars and wolves too I think.

Thank you so much for this, was looking for an aesthetically pleasing farm and this one was easily my favourite. Was a little worried about the burning enemies and standing braziers setting everything on fire as since the Ashlands dropped i'm playing with fire hazards turned on, but after a little testing i've found that as long and they aren't placed UNDER any of the wood it's fine (i think the metal cage walls act as a barrier) and they're still covered enough by the little roof bits that rain doesn't put them out, beautiful work!

Also, if you want knoledge rank 2 of the aegis, ( so u can summon them wig staff ) this farm is probably great

started using corpse mod after that, mostly cuz it doesn't scatter your loot everywhere.

farming these large animals are very inconsistent, hunting with an advanced looting 3 weapon you will get more food faster

My upper boars died. I’m guessing from the smoke. Did they patch it?

Luckily, I use Azumatt's AutoStore mod which will teleport items into nearby chests. This means I can collect 100 percent of drops. Great farm btw! In just over an hr I had almost a full chest of intestines. I also use a mod that makes draugr drop iron scrap which I already have two chests of.

i build and rebuild it and for some reason chicks are staying on the spot eggs hach, and when the decide to move the chicks fall on the holes before growing up to hens, don't know how to fix it, is this farm directional ?
