There wasn't a "Hip Hop" chart in the 80's. We were blessed with R&B, Soul and funk. Hip hop did not ruin black music until the 2000's.

I started playing the bass after listening to Marvin Craig at the age of 10. Thanks Marvin, I wish you would come out and make some videos showing your skills on the bass. See you guys in concert this year 2025.

very sad, I have his autograph. His dad, Fred Lane Sr. was my gym teacher at Freedom Middle School, Franklin TN in 1998. He was so proud of his son. Fred Lane, Jr. used to come up to Freedom Middle School and was always so nice. I remember when I didn't make the basketball team, Fred Sr. saw me upset and told me just keep working hard, his son wasnt the best but kept working and now he's in the NFL. RIP Fred Lane Jr

Man, I love how all of these videos are inner-connected from one record label, a record producer, or just being artist... You should put together a series of Motown, Brunswick, Chess Records- stuff like that... I think your videos are incredible!!!! I LOVE Soulful Strut & Wack Wack.... Great instruments!

I don't remember most of the other tracks she recorded but she certainly gave us a WOW! classic and it is probably one of the best half dozen or so single cuts released in the disco era. With a voice like hers she could've had more big hits but it looks like they took the "re-makes" approach rather than writing original tunes compatible with her vocal style. Neither she nor Karen Young attained as much success with anything else they recorded other than their biggest dance hits.
