You did amazing!! I would have done the same thing. We have animals (horses, chickens, etc). My kids know that if the animals don’t get fed or watered, then the animals end up suffering and the kids don’t want that to happen. They are up early daily to do chores before we start with schoolwork (we are a homeschool family.). You did awesome and are raising a leader, not a follower! 💕

You are also teaching them that when they fail they can’t ask for help. You’re showing him when he messes up you won’t be there to support him and he won’t come to you anymore. Sounds drastic but these build up over time.

@@jessecara expect the majority of the time I do help and go above and beyond. He knows I help and will help. However, it is my responsibility as a dad to teach my children how to be independent. Allowing them to “fail” at independence while under my care is the best place for that to happen because I’m able to teach, console, and be there for them.

That, and living a different way doesn’t inherently mean living in sin. We don’t have to be just like our parents. In my opinion and experience, if your parenting style doesn’t match the current state of the world you will lose touch of being a good parent. Your kids aren’t going to look like your generation, and that’s GOOD! It’s part of growth and development.

The point for parents is their task is not to cater to everyone around giving them looks and making comments. Their task is to cater to their children.
