There was 550 bars on board Many of which are in the Mel fisher museum for preservation. Plus it’s copper on a ship that had hundreds of millions of dollars of gold and silver on board. It outshines the copper. Gold and silver from the ship cost thousands, my copper coin costs a fraction of that.

lovely set from Jesus Maria de la Limpia Concepcion, The Capitana. sank in 1654 and only about 6000 coins were recovered and half of those going to the Ecuador government. nice nice nice

In 1964 the coins were made out of silver. If you do the conversion on the metal value, a lot of these things still cost the about same amount of silver.

The mint would do well with bringing BACK proof sets that have the 90% silver dime , quarter , and Kennedy half dollar like it once did until 1965 . And along this line of thinking - the Eisenhower silver dollar needs to be reintroduced in 90% silver to bring the integrity and INTEREST BACK to coin collecting and getting the young people AWAY FROM TELEVISION AND CELL PHONES and teach them about SAVING for their future and having a healthy hobby that literally PAYS for itself !
