It was a very fast tide, pushing upriver makes getting into the cradle and experience, well done all crews yesterday

Hi Dobe762. The boats in order of launching were a Welsford Navigator, a Roamer, an Essex Smacks and a Heron that you didn’t see launching, we were also joined in Burnham by a Wayfarer. The Essex Smacks and Heron are both much smaller than an Ilur, but people have great success cruising in boats as small as a Mirror. I imagine the Wayfarer is closer to the Ilur in size but I think the hull is shallower. I’ve not sailed the Welsford Navigator or Roamer, I’m not familiar with the Swallow. My advice would be to try and get some experience in other people’s boats to help you find the right one for you.
