I gathered these seeds at the bottom of the mountain and planted them at the top, that’s considered “local eco type” But even if they were seeds from 200 miles away, or even if they were apple tree seeds from Europe, they would still improve the land. There are people who hate on me if I don’t plant seeds from the exact area I gathered them. I look at their profiles and see no farms, no orchards, no food forests. Then I talk with someone like @ben_falk_wsd who has spent at least 20 years planting “non native” plants in the forests of the North East, and I see incredible amounts of abundance in the form of fruit, nuts, herbs, beneficial insects, and wildlife. Someone who has kept a close eye on the land most of his life. I’ll take advice from someone like that. Someone with a real-time pulse on what’s working and not working. Anyways, here’s a video of me planting fruit on top of a mountain. #wildfruit #guerillagardening #nativefruit #fruit #plum #blueberries #berry #berries #wildberries #wildplum #rockclimbing

I was with you up until you said planting non-natives was "improving" things. Fruitful gardens are not the be-all end-all of the planet. Bio-regions are different for a reason. Please learn more about ecology.
@dumbxandxjaded

I encourage you to educate yourself on invasive species. They may seem nice, healthy, or fruitful, but a species that has been introduced to a new environment can decimate the ecology of that area. Without natural predators or a life cycle that is in sync with the climate, they can take over and create a monoculture. There is not a single species, no matter how fruitful, that is half as important as biodiversity. Please don't risk it for the vid.
@dumbxandxjaded
@dumbxandxjaded 15 сағат бұрын
Invasive species are a problem for natural biodiversity, tourism, agriculture, and the economy. Our ecosystems have evolved to perform at peak function over millions of years. Humans rely on the goods and services of healthy ecosystems. It's not time to start playing God.
