I uhh think you got it backwards man…that blues stuff…is where they came up with the “my girl” riff!!!
@austinguitarschool14322 ай бұрын
I'm trying to show a comparison. I know Buddy Guy played tunes to that same riff on his early Chess records recordings late 50's. Freddie King use the same Rhythm riff in one of his instrumentals around 1960-61. I'm just bridging the Gap to make it easy to play for everyone...

It's also a good exercise to incorporate alternate picking since there's so much strong crossing.

the G dom 9th has the same notes as a B min 7 flatted 5, interesting
@austinguitarschool14322 ай бұрын
Technically it's a B minor 7 with b5
@austinguitarschool14322 ай бұрын
You have to leave the G-note out of the chord for it to be a B minor 7.b5
@DrillForAbsentee2 ай бұрын
Well, of course it can replace a dominant 7 chord -- it has the dominant 7 in it. The dom 7 of G is F -- that is what you're playing on the D string, right? So what this is is an inversion of a G7 with the 9th added?
@austinguitarschool14322 ай бұрын
😄 you're very funny it's a dominant 9th chord which is the dominant seventh chord with a 9th added to it if it doesn't have the dominant seventh it would be called an add 9

That's a great version of the 9 chord, especially if you have a bass player adding the root. I use it sometimes when I'm playing with the band. If I'm playing solo, I add the root by fingering it this way (I'm sure I'm not the only one); For G9: - 2nd finger, 1st string, 3rd fret - 1st finger, bar across 2nd, 3rd & 4th strings @ 2nd fret -3rd finger, 3rd string, 3rd fret -4th finger, 5th string (mute the 6th string), 3rd fret. I realize its a tight grouping for the fingers, It's just how I worked it out decades ago. Even now at almost 70 hrs old, my fat fingers can still squeeze in there and play it.

Im so sorry. I don't have anyway adding to tabs to my video's currently. You can slow the Video down.
@austinguitarschool14323 ай бұрын
It's actually a very easy phrase to play the notes are taken from the D minor pentatonic scale and it's a drop d tuning I will make a longer video and post it explaining the two scale patterns and where to put your fingers for you 😄

During my freshman year, I got my first classical guitar, it was rather a cheap one and it sounded alright. Then in my sophomore year, I got a better classical guitar from Amazon and the brand was Cordoba and the model was C5-CE SP, and it became one of my absolute favorite guitar that I played.

It would be better to learn the notes of the whole scale
@austinguitarschool14325 ай бұрын
D. E F# G. A B (C#) D I purposely didn't play the whole scale the C# is not used in any of the licks. So in theory the scale can actually be a G Major scale also D mixolydian. So I only only spoke about the common notes.
