I'm enjoying your videos, I thought I was subscribed already but only actually managed to hit the button last week! I'm no RC racer myself, but I do love 8th scale buggies! Haven't built one yet, so I'm just watching and learning, I have a few RTR's and used buggies, and main thing is I will be restoring a couple old Xrays this winter. That Tekno is awesome, I have heard, looking forward to follow your experience with it!

I have a truggy motor in mine with ceramic bearings. Avid titanium turn buckles j&t bearing Co. Ceramic bearings, j&t bearing Co. Servo mount and carbon esc tray my favorite things is how free everything is the inserts are amazing the anti roll bars deadband and how easy the kit manual was to read and the tuning explanations in the back of the manual! Its built like a tank also I swapped out the button head screws out because I snapped one on install for stainless screws

interesting, i bought those red pistons with the kit after hearing about the molded ones. yet to buy the roll bar kits, was going to wait till i get a chance to try the car on track and until i can drive it a little harder. think they should have come with the kit myself. will probably be racing mostly on astro turf so we'll see how it goes :)

Hi , love the content, I'm 7 Teknos in and because myself and a friend have dominated the track at our local bashing spot, many in our group have just bought the the buggy or the truggy so that they now can be competitive lol , I also run Losi ,Kyosho, Muggen and Team Durango vehicles for racing , while living in the UK I found it frustrating at times finding places to run my cars without issues, now in Germany I spoilt for choice. Try to master the Losi Promoto MX .

@SeanyRC MY first Tekno is the Tekno MT410 ,this got the ball rolling as I was a big Losi Fan, it vamexwith a Losi DB bodyshell so looked more like a dessert off road buggy, next a Tekon ET48 , NB48 and a hybrid MT48 /MTET so using a ET48 chassis with the MT front and rear end, the original SCT, the new SCT 2.0 , ET48 2.0 , and went back and built a New MT410 before the new version came , all super vehicles. I've owned around 80 rc cars in my and ditll have around 30 cars now, I prefer to race nitro and bash or bash race electric.

Man, I don't know where you race, but every track I've visited in the Western US has been an exclusive club. They do everything they can to keep new racers off the track (so they can have it for themselves, I guess?) Last one I dropped into in Utah just straight up told me nah, ya can't race here, all the pit tables are taken. Like 9 pit tables and they had 3 racers that night, but the regular racers just left their gear on the pit tables so nobody else could use them. And I watched a 40 year old man on steroids scream obscenities (this is in a toy store, mind you) when he started crashing. I was really hoping for this scenario you described, but I haven't seen it. Just took my little girl to the only local track and felt compelled to leave when the staff and racers went into detail about what they prefer to do in the bedroom when they finally get a lady in one. It's as if RC tracks here attract a really particular and unpleasant type of people. When I meet someone new to RC, I steer them AWAY from RC tracks and racing. The expense and the friction with other racers isn't worth the hassle and seems likely to deter people from RC as a whole. Now I have built my Mini Z track on a storable plank and set up tracks in yards or lots if we want to race. Far cheaper, no fights about cheating, no tire sauce, everyone has fun. Seems much better to me. Interesting to hear your perspective on it though.

Started RC racing back in 2007 at the age of 16, still racing and hope to continue till the end. Did summer jobs and newspaper delivery to finance the hobby, it really taught me money saving. I was on the Isle of wight for a 3 week summer job in 2009 or 2010 and sadly did not find any RC club back then. Also started sharing the hobby more on the socials to make people notice it, but the best thing of the share is you have your own record of where you went.

I’m from the US. Started racing when I was 4. My neighbor was actually a national champion and also worked for one of the top motor companies at the time. I was incredibly fortunate to have someone like that as a roll model in my life. I’m 35 now. I don’t race as much as I did in my 20s but R/C is what drove me to be an engineer. It was on my CV and it’s what got me my first real engineering job. That job got me to where I am now and I can’t believe I would have accomplished any of it without R/C

Love this video, thank you for the message. My story is similar to others. Got a used Tamiya Grasshopper when i was in 9th grade and was hooked immediately. I raced seriously in the 90s, then life happened and i found myself out of the hobby for many years. In 2020, with the family grown , I now have some time and money to do what i love. Im 52 now, and love the hobby now even more. I love racing at the big events, doesnt matter where i place. I enjoy being a part of it, watching the pros dazzle us with their skills, and helping out the younger generation. I learn a lot from the kids too! My recommendation, talk to that person you dont know thats pitting next to you, might be their first day, and just might be your next best friend.

Lovely video Sean! RC has changed my life for the better too! I started when I was a teenager, my dad bought be a traxxas bandit for christmas one year and me and my bro raced that and his Tamiya around the dining room table every evening after school until my dad took us to a race meeting. I ended up 2nd in the B final at a regional 10th scale event. Then i grew out of it for 20+ years. I picked the hobby back up around 10 years ago but with 8th scale, and the last two years i've been competing at nationals. Finished 36th overall this year! RC is an amazing hobby with some amazing people in it, i've made more friends through RC than any other hobby, and as you said it teaches you life skills you didn't know you needed. Congrats on becoming a father! Keep up the good work mate, hopefully catch you at a race meeting in 2025 :D <3 Chewy RC

My kid is a little over 2 and one is 6 months, I don't want to fly by but I look forward to when they are 5 or 6ish to get them to a tack. I hope they love it the way I do. My parents never got me an RC so I had to wait until ll high-school to get a traxxas t-maxx but I'd always go to my local tack and watch nitro races and wish I could do that. Here I am at 37 and unfortunately nitro isn't as popular in my area but I race multiple different electric classes and tho I have friends at the track, I wish I had someone close to me that enjoyed it also
