I guess I'm in the minority here, but I thought the original show ending was hilarious. Not all the sad stuff in the last episode, but the very end where he just looks at the camera, pissed at the world. I loved it lol.

You got me started on this series now. I usually stay away from vampire romance, but several of the BDB are available free to listen with a current audible subscription, so why not? I'm only on book 2, but it's been enjoyable so far.

A book that's larger on the inside than the outside. Great vlog. You experienced this as I did. Alone late at night. It really maximizes the experience. Like any classic work of art, I think Danielewski created something that can't be reduced to a single genre or theme. It's not a horror story, or a thriller, love story, fantasy/sci-fi, etc. It explores many aspects of human experience. Mental trauma and illness, physical trauma, love and sex, survival and death. The "House of Leaves" poem in the appendices sums it up for me. The abstract and uncontrollable spiralling of human thought. If anything, I feel like Danielewski is giving us empathy in writing for our individual experiences with everything painful in life. "Little solace comes to those who grieve when thoughts keep drifting as walls keep shifting and this great blue world of ours seems a house of leaves moments before the wind."

I will say, I’m pretty happy with one of the later female characters. I don’t want ti spoil anything but in one of the upcoming books, the female lead is more of what I was hoping for.

Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much for what you said about the adoption plotline!! As an adoptee, that stuff is sooo problematic and triggering. Adoption is not a fairy tale or happy ending. And being someone's "plan b" when "natural" isn't an option is in fact so fucking painful. I just finished reading Blood Vow and that plotline continues 🙄 and let me just say....the absolute audacity and selfishness of Rhage and Mary as adopters when Bitty's blood relative comes along🤬 unless you know what it's like to be raised by genetic strangers, fuck all the way off with your selfishness and need to own another human despite what might be best for them. Soooo yeah, as an adoptee I have some pretty strong opinions on that😅 it's a bullshit rainbows and butterflies narrative that could not be further from the truth. I did somehow still enjoy The Beast and Blood Vow overall though and will absolutely keep reading. (This is my first time reading the series ☺️)

It’s always so hard to recommend these when I’m reading them and people ask what I am reading it’s like I want to tape a giant sticky note on the front saying TRIGGER warning, but other than that get ready for an sexually charged emotional roller coaster ❤

personally i find making batman murder and spit vinegar like an angry teen world breaking. but then to have him put in his place by harley quin and executed like a lame dog is one of the most depressing things I've seen in gaming. after watching his death scene i now hate harley quin and what she's become and that feeling bleeds out to everything in the game. i can't count it a as arkham cannon because it's so divorced from the series. a disgusting game that i refuse to play that's sickeningly depressing. thank you for explaining what happens in it. you've saved me from playing it. wish you well.

I feel similar. It’s hard to play and feel Like it’s in the Arkham world. I assume they’ll walk back on it with some multiverse Batman, but it won’t be the same

Spoilers!!! - - - - - - - Just thought of this, maybe if he lives on through the characters, a piece of his soul in every one of them, he can write a third book!!! I am obsessed with these books and I 100% understand crying. I’m autistic and my special interest is Game Grumps specifically and these books both made me sob.

Thank you, ladies! Liked your review. Share your love for the series. My story with it: I got sick, and first 12 books were in my ebook. I started....and 3 days later i finished all 12. I never read any series this way before or after😂
