Nice job Michelle, I like how you fixed your mistake and ended with a beautiful page. I really liked the color combination you used.

We had a Tuesday Morning that closed after covid. It had the. Most. Amazing. Craft aisle. I had spent $100’s of $$$ there over the years on crafting supplies and equipment. 😢I stopped at another one further away and they had done away with their craft items. The employee at that location told me alot of people were upset about it and encouraged me to reach out to corporate to let them know. They were basically a clone of home goods now. But all of the Tuesday Morning stores in the Pittsburgh area have now closed so there’s no point in doing anything about it now.

Yeah, I was a little late to the game even discovering they had a crafty section. Then it dwindled away soo quickly. I was able to get a pretty good deal on a Big Shot :D and those cool shimmer sprays.. before it was all gone. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment today!

Hi Michelle! Leigh suggested your video 😊 Helpful hint ❤ 3:01 where your pages are shiny, take a sanding block or sandpaper and scuff the surface. This simple prep will help immensely. Excellent idea for creating an art journal! Thanks 💙🦋

Welcome! I appreciate you stopping by and offering kind advice. I've completed one page just with gesso, and yep I need another plan. It was scraping off. I'll give sanding a try (tiny bit worried about the tiny dust particles. sensory thing ;P ). Also pondering just covering the entire page with the masking tape. On the 1st spread it seemed to hold up well even through lots of liquids and heat tool. We will experiment and play :D
@lisastevens26076 ай бұрын
@@curiouslymichelle masking tape might work too. When you sand do it lightly. I totally understand sensory issues 😊 So if sanding doesn’t work for you I’m sure you’ll figure it out. I’ll keep an eye out for your videos . 💙🦋

Hello Michelle, so happy you are going to play along with me. What a great idea for your journal, couldn't get any easier, well done. I truly believe that you make better art when you are arting in a book you made yourself. You may have already covered your shiny pages but if you haven't done so yet, a light sanding with fine sandpaper will take the shine off. Have added your video to my playlist. Looking forward to seeing your creations. Cheers

hello! Thanks so much for stopping in and your kind words. I have started (prompt 1 video is up tomorrow) I just gesso'd the pages and yep the paint was scraping off ;/. Play and learn I suppose ;). I will give sanding a try. Also pondering just covering the entire page with the masking tape. I'll be seeing you around this month :)

Unfortunately, I did not film the making of this one as I was healing from oral surgery and didn't feel like talking. Totally possible / probable that I'll make another envelope journal at some point and I'll do my best to get that one on film. I appreciate you watching this flip through and leaving a comment. More Journals coming soon! I'm kinda addicted at the moment. :) lol

I got printer decorative paper. It was so thin. It had white in center so I ran it through printer with avocado dyed paper in copier and ran it through and copied on front and back. Then I add to add laces and stuff to edges to make it stronger.

bahahahaha I love your entertaining video Michelle! You crack me up I like the highlighter idea and will give it a go - I definitely had my highlighters set aside and they are a basica supply - I am a student now and always using them so they are definitely a base for me haha! I really love the green paper with the dots - its yummy - it might be a beginner question but how did you get the dots affects?
@curiouslymichelle7 ай бұрын
I had to rewatch some of the video to figure out what "green paper with dots"?... LOL. So it's dyed book pages. I used an easter egg dye kit. Took a big foam brush to sloppy /messy "paint" the dye over the page. I stack them on a cheap metal baking sheet (aluminum foil kinda but much thicker but not sturdy like a regular cookie sheet kind of pan) . The baking sheet has a texture on it that leaves the dots where the dye pools.
@gemmalclarke7 ай бұрын
@@curiouslymichelle gotcha! It’s the baking tray texture - thanks! I really like it!
