If you want to know more as where and which pin was used you can refer to the code files where pins have been defined. Also the video link I have shared above is a proper tutorial which can help you understand more about this mini project.

An error might occur if the base64 string was not correctly formed, when light conditions are not perfect then data detected by the ldr sensor will be wrong and hence character interpretation will also be wrong, so when the entire base 64 string is formed and tried to convert back to an image it will end up failing, make sure no disturbances are here in the light env, use a dark room and check those connections too if some wire is loose that can also cause low current to be received by Arduino hence again misinterpreting the characters.

AWS mqtt service might not be giving acknowledgement for a handshake.
