Gosh, I‘m so sad, that we will never see how big Drogon would have been become. He was just eight years old and grew so damn fast. Just imagine how big he would’ve been in a 13th season, as Georgs R. R. Martin told, the show needed in his opinion… And just imagine how big he would’ve been when‘s getting older…

What blows my mind is that all of this was in Unreal 4.x, before Nanite and Lumen and PCG and .... holy crap, I can't even imagine what talented people on this level will do with 5.x.

My wife and I watched this series together with friends. I had been somewhat out of the loop prior to the first episode. The invitation was "come over and watch the new Star Trek", and I accepted without knowing *anything* about the series beyond its name. The first time I saw this environment, I was blown away by the design, especially the lighting. I made them go back and re-run a minute or so to let me get a better look (my day job involves 3D graphics for engineering, so I have a professional interest in CGI). I'll never get tired of seeing this scene.

The creative pros on this team are absolutely masters of their craft. For all of us working in any kind of graphics or animation, works like this set the bar very, very high. Magnificent.

The better your work, the less it stands out. As artists, what’s that like?

If only the writing of season 8 could have have reached even 10% of your talent level… I hope you guys made out OK. I know how ruthless CGI can be.

I said the same about ImageEngine's reel for the show ... the excessive dark moody lighting and bloomy color grading ruins / tarnishes many of the prior rendering results Pixomondo and ImageEngine delivered for the show. It's really unfortunate when other departments of a production you don't have influence over, decrease realism previously achieved.

It's that time of the year where I revisit these gems. I've been looking at Jonathan Symmonds' course and it looks really well done but budget constraints mean I need to watch every free available high quality content I can get to level up.

I work at a television studio and am part of a small team working on putting this technology together, so I understand how impressive this was, from a technical standpoint with the camera tracking of course, but even with the lighting, cinematography, and storytelling. Really, really impressive stuff, and I’m going to come back to this as a reference. With that being said, I laughed out loud when I first started the video, because of all the places to shoot with virtual production, a McDonald’s seems like the easiest one to shoot on location 😂 Still, beautiful commercial guys!

They are also the only ones who can afford to try out new solutions since VP is still early it is slightly expensive and people have not yet wrapped their heads around the possibilities of VP. I love it and hope to see more independent content creators make more art.
