I've played the clarinet, and I just picked up a Hall crystal flute and this has really given me the firm base I needed to learn proper embourchure for this type of instrument. I'm currently driving my husband and cats crazy with flutey honking, lol I've missed playing an instrument so much!

Beautiful Sir James Galway ! I played the flute for a few years. I still think it was a good choice of instrument. I started with the piano in grade 1 at a music school where my father taught. Now in my 30s, I practise the piano and love to sing along with the lyrics of each song in the book.

My flute teacher always said to keep the flute up, parallel to the floor. I notice James Galway's flute is at a 45degree angle down. Is there a reason for this?
