Joseph Smith was never a polygamist and spent so much of his time preaching against it after it started creeping into the church. Please read Doctrine and Covenants section 101 in the first two printings (while Joseph was still alive) where it teaches the true doctrine of monogamy. It was removed and replaced under Brigham Young and replaced with section 132 (a false prophecy falsely attributed to Joseph Smith). Read The Voice of Innocence document that Joseph had read and voted in unanimously by the priesthood and Relief Society that blasted polygamy. These are just two original source documents. There are more! Read the Book of Mormon that very clearly spells out having many wives as a grievous sin!!

Being strong and confident does not make a person immune to trauma bonding. That’s a really offensive idea. Strong women can be victimized, and being victimized doesn’t mean that they were weak in the first place. HMK was 14. Fourteen. In order to believe this, you have to believe in a God that commanded a man in his 30s to have sex with a 14-year-old. Hence, the number of comments here from faithful polygamy deniers. I mean, obviously, you can’t read HMK’s writings and really deny that polygamy happened- but it’s a way to remain in the church while still believing that sex between adults and 14-year-olds is wrong.

Hate to break it to everyone, but Joseph did not practice polygamy. He fought against it and excommunicated those who practiced it. It is a lie brought about those who wanted to practice polygamy. Where are the kids Joseph fathered with all these alleged multiple wives? They don't exist. He was only married to Emma. Joseph was sealed to other women that is true, but he was also sealed to other men. What!!!!! He was sealed to men too?!!!!! Joseph was practicing the "law of adoption." He was being sealed to both men and women as part of this "law of adoption" to create a family here on earth that he was the head of. Look it up. Search the history. It is there. If Joseph practiced polygamy then he is a liar and deceiver. Which he is not. Look up the Law of Adoption and better inform yourselves on brother Joseph. The law of adoption ended during Wilford Woodruffs presidency and was changed to something else. Can anyone guess what they changed it to? Well I'll just tell you. They changed it to the "sealing of families" because they didn't understand what Joseph was doing with the "law of adoption" ordinance. So the sealing of families ordinance came about because of ignorance. Think about that for a while.....

Good effort but I feel sorry for you two that you’ve been convinced that your place in eternity is to be part of harem of polygamous wives. I hope you someday realize that there is more in store for you than that. Polygamy is a false tradition and has done more damage to the restoration and spreading forth of the gospel than anything else.

Let me point out the following. It was the Mormon church who attacked Christianity and all other religions first when Joseph Smith said that "all the churches are wrong and an abomination before God..." (Joseph Smith-- History 1:19). For over 195 years the Mormon church has supported their racists doctrine that all blacks are cursed by God. The God of the Bible would never curse an entire race of people, especially generations of innocent people born after the "ALLEGED CURSED" took place. God had NOTHING to do with this Mormon curse on all Blacks. This is the racists attitude and doctrine of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and the Mormon church. Let's go back in time to September 1857 to the MOUNTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE in which "Mormons" led by John D Lee murdered 120-140 innocent men, women, and CHILDREN (tell me, what kind of church murders CHILDREN!?) of the Baker-Fancher wagon train. Later, before his death, John D Lee confessed that Brigham Young gave him the order to kill all those innocent people. And to add insult to the victims, the Mormon church names a university after Brigham Young (BYU). How insensitive and heartless of the Mormons. Most recently the Mormon church has settled multiple multi-million dollar sexual assault lawsuits and set aside another billion dollars to settle future sexual assault lawsuits pending. The Mormon church has paid a $5 million fine to the IRS/SEC for lying on tax returns and stealing tithe money from church members.

When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in: MATTHEW 24: 23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..." Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in? A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan. OR B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.

I’ve had people attack me with insults, because I am Lds. One thing they bring up is plural marriage. I’ll tell them that there are a lot of biblical prophets that had many wives. Does that mean the Bible is false? They don’t reply after that. I do know the principle of polygamy is not well known or understood, but I have a feeling it is for the after life, when our earthly mind has the veil lifted and ego, emotions and sex drives are out of the way

@@hollayevladimiroff131 are you trying to say only the Old Testament is trustworthy? We should disregard anything in the New Testament if it doesn’t repeat what the Old Testament says? Is it possible that the principle of polygamy is righteous if used righteously? It has been painted with a very corrupted brush, many using it for sexual gratification. I think after death when our bodies are purified of the fall, or natural man, the principle of polygamy is used somehow. It’s just my belief. Personally I don’t think it’s necessary nowadays, but right after Noah’s Ark I can see how it was needed for repopulation. Perhaps it’s a tool and is pulled from the shelf by the lord when needed. Maybe it will return during the thousand years of peace after the wicked are destroyed? We will see.

The part I find disturbing about Helen’s journal is when she talked about women wanting to see an angel, so they got together and fasted, but the babies that were there were possessed by demons. Then Bishop Whitney said it would have worked had they killed on of the babies. Then the babies never recovered, so one of the moms ended up sacrificing one of the babies. 😢 so sad and satanic! So I understand listening to the women and trying to get to know them. We have to consider that they’re in the middle of nowhere and through Brigham’s made up D&C 132, women are threatened with destruction if they don’t accept polygamy. So we have to consider the religious abuse that happened and the fact that they had trauma bonding. Why can’t we trust Joseph for what he said? That he was innocent of any claims that he was practicing polygamy. That he excommunicated men for abusing women with polygamy, and sued people over it and canonized D&C 101 (the original not current) to make it clear how against polygamy the church was. Then if we’re going to pay attention to the women’s what about Emma who said that they were innocent of the evil, very, very late rumors (with motive to want to gain possession of the temple lot) rumors that Joseph and Emma were evil.

@@Hamann9631 give me one first hand account from JS that comes even close to him supporting polygamy. He only ever fought against it. There’s no physical evidence of any kind to convict him of polygamy either. Look in Helen Mar Kimball’s journal, she wrote about it. So you’re saying that she’s capable of lying? If she lied about that then she lied about being Joseph’s wife as well. If we can believe all of the hard things to believe about Joseph looking into a hat to receive revelations and seeing God and angels, and we believe his revelations, them why do you call him a liar when it comes to him pleading to be seen as innocent of being blamed for practicing polygamy? Why can’t we believe his words when he calls polygamy wicked? Why can’t we believe his words when he says that no man should ever have more than one wife and God has never commanded anyone to have more than one wife?

One way we know Hannah is teaching the truth is by people attacking her with false accusations. A member was a guest on another Utube show that wrote a book Hannah has covered, and I made sure she got credit. Someone attacked Hannah with a false statement. I went to cut and paste, so to speak, to prove they lied, and of course got interrupted in my efforts to defend her. Which I plan on correcting. On the subject of polygamy. We are incredible as spirits. Job records that we sang and shouted for joy at the laying of the foundations of the earth, Jeremiah was ordained and sanctified a prophet as a spirit. We fought a war as spirits. The rich man suffered as a spirit, while Lazarus was comforted in Abraham's bosom as a spirit. We can see, hear, travel, love, hate, repent, of some things, forgive. Christ created heaven and earth as a spirit. The Bible teaches that everyone's body of flesh and bones will be resurrected and immortal. Why? We are so awesome as spirits, why would we even want or need a body? We would have to be able to do something with a body that we cannot do as spirits only. That something is eat, drink and copulalte. We cannot do those things as just a spirit. Considering the ability to eat and drink is not an ability worthy of a mortal test, in otherwords, God could have transitioned us strait from spirits to immortals if we only had the ability to eat and drink as immortals. It is our ability to copulalte that requires a mortal test. The very reason for an immortal body is to be unified for eternity with an eternal companion of the opposite sex. Adam and Eve had sexual organs. There will be immortal men and women during the Millennial reign of Christ with sexual organs, like Adam and Eve. Did God need to make our bodies with sexual organs to create bodies for His spirit children? No. He created Adam and Eve without childbirth. God is giving us the opportunity to be like Him, a righteous parent of spirit children on worlds without number, worlds without end. Will he give us an immortal body that has sexual organs, like His, that has the power He has, that cannot be killed to a person who has not repented of all sins related to the law of chastity? No! A Celestial body is an immortal body that has sexual organs. A Terrestrial or Telestial body is an immortal body that has no sexual organs. Male and female is an eternal identity, not created. There is an opposite to everything. We are begotten sons and daughters of God, but we were male and female intelligences before that. Joseph Smith taught that intelligent spirit is not created, otherwise who created God? So, through free agency, will more women or will more men live the law of chastity in mortally? If you have to question the answer to that you are not paying attention to life. But to give you statistics, 25 percent of married men cheat whereas 15 percent of married women cheat. Because there will be more women than men in the Celestial kingdom there will be polygamy. Does that mean all marriages will be polygamy marriages? I don't know. What I do know is far more people throughout history will earn a Celestial body that were not members of the Church than who were in mortality.

You must use critical thinking to see this through before I move on to sexual organs; else, you risk being caught up in an illusion. There is no other God; there is only one, first and foremost. You choose not to acknowledge this as reality. It is your belief that Joseph Smith is a god, and that any man can become a god by rising to the highest rank in the temple. That's where the rites of Freemasonry originated. The belief that there are numerous gods and that anyone can become their own god was instilled in all members by Joseph Smith. Despite being in opposition to D&C and PoGP, BOM is true. A man can become a god, but the BOM makes no reference of this; in contrast, the D&C makes note of this possibility. This, then, is the point of extreme delusion. The Mormons are conditioned to accept both beliefs in spite of their inconsistencies, thus it goes without saying that they will never be able to see that layer of deception. The conviction that any man can become a god is the third and most important red flag for Joseph Smith. His repeated visits to God yielded no resolution until much later in adulthood, which is the second cautionary tale. His assistance in advancing the Mormon faith came from Freemasonry. An additional warning sign is the Golden Plates, which are nonexistent as God has taken them inexplicably. Though none of the old manuscripts that were used to construct the Bible were taken by God, they are still held by the Vatican. The concept that Native Americans may have had the Golden Plates and were killed for them is one of the theories regarding the origins of the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith is credited with making the Mormon faith seem extraordinarily real. The Freemasons gained possession of it and utilized it as a platform to develop the Mormon church. Ultimately, if you spell Lucifer backwards, you'll get Reficul. Reficul is Latin for "refuel" or "recycle." Though an extremely strong angel, Lucifer is far from God. In order to enter the Garden of Eve, which he was not allowed to enter, he transformed into a serpent. After entering, he tempted Eve. Next came Adam. God no longer provided for them after they disobeyed him. Lucifer recycled feces by splicing DNA and inserting anus to digest and defecate. Adam and Eve's penis and vagina were also implanted by him so they may have sex and be lustful and contaminate all future generations. They covered themselves in shame as a result of being shocked to discover they had privates. A potent tool for turning away from God is lust. We didn't inherit the rectum, anus, penis, or vagina from him. Why do you suppose God made a woman from one of Adam's ribs? Sex was nonexistent until the serpent entered the scene. There isn't a bathroom in heaven. Avoid using tampons. Absent digestive organs. a lack of sexual organs. Absent sexual relations. And definitely not any lust. Love is only flesh. Merely earthly flesh exists; our heavenly bodies function very differently from earthly flesh here on Earth.

When it comes to plural marriage (as well as everything else that's been altered) we really need to stop putting other people's testimonies BEFORE the words of Joseph Smith himself. Joseph Smith very adamantly stated that he never taught, lived or taught anyone else to live plural marriage-not in secret, not in public-EVER. He denied every single accusation placed against him constantly and yet we just don't seem to care in this church because other people say "Oh no he was lying."??? How can we really say that we believe in and honor the prophet Joseph Smith as an honest man and a true prophet and then treat his words on this subject like they're nothing compared to what others say? This is one of the most hypocritical things we do in this church. Also, difference in culture and laws or not, it never was and never will be ok for a 30+ year old man to marry a 14 year old girl. Just because it was acceptable by law back then does NOT mean that it was right or ok at all.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would [the Lord] have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. Why did he burn down the Navuoo expositor if he was innocent?

@@dr33776 That’s not what happened. The Nauvoo council voted to have it destroyed because they didn’t want mobs to be brought in and have their women and children raped and murdered like what happened in Missouri. Read the Joseph Smith papers. All of this information is available online to the public. I repeat, read the primary contemporaneous resources.

I was taught in seminary that JS was a polygamist. Awful, awful day for me. But there are plenty of contemporary sources showing it. Including the journals this poor girl has been reading. I agree denying it is very tempting, because it’s just gross, and it’s slightly easier to believe in the singular truth of the church if the founder wasn’t involved in the controversial stuff. But wanting something to be true and actually being able to believe it are different things.

@@dr33776 Read the council minutes. It’s all publicly available and therefore unnecessary to ask if you are genuinely curious to learn. Also read the outbound letters from Nauvoo residents around this time for confirmation of the city council’s reasons to vote to do so. Additionally, read the reasons provided by their legal counsel, which is also publicly available. Hint: it has nothing to do with polygamy.

@@AprilFriday-de6vm Note I said contemporaneous and there are no such contemporaneous journals of which you speak of. FYI - there’s a reason non contemporaneous journals are not accepted as evidence in a court of law.

Hannah, president Nelson said Joseph Smith used the seer stone to translate the book of Mormon. You have made hard statements against that. Wish to comment?

President Joseph Fielding Smith studied the historical sources and stated Joseph Smith did not translate the Book of Mormon using a seer stone-that the notion was purely "hearsay." An appeal to authority on this issue will not resolve the question as we have Presidents of the Church who have taken opposite positions. The real question is, what did Joseph Smith (the eyewitness and performer of the translation) say? When you evaluate his statements you discover that they contradict the seer stone translation hypothesis in every respect. -Hannah Stoddard

Nah, Joseph Smith did not have plural wives. They got sealed to each other in the early church. Sealings were not just marriages. Wilford Woodruff changed sealings to be what we know today. So Hannah does not have this correct!

Joseph Smith had a least 33 wives, and he hid it from his people early on.

What an awful topic. No wonder there are more men on here than women. A loving Heavenly Father would never put his faithful daughters in such an awful situation. He glorifies women and polygamy is an abomination in his sight. It is miraculous that the Joseph Smith papers were "mostly" revealed that allowed people to see what Joseph Smith actually believed and taught. And, that the first Book of Commandments published stated the revelation that given that was standard for marriage is monogamy. There is not one shred of first hand evidence otherwise until Joseph Smith was killed. Then conspiring men brought this evil into the church and changed JS's historical writings. We need to keep in mind what situation these women's circumstances were and that they had to do "and say" anything they were told or they would be ostracized. They had no rights. Section 132 was written AFTER JS was killed and it contradicts ALL scriptures when God states man should have one wife. There is not any scripture that state that God tells any man to take more than one wife. And in Jacob, the scripture that has been misinterpreted by polygamists everywhere since Brigham Young, when raising a righteous seed, it states that God has to explicitly command there should be no polygamy allowed or if He doesn't, the people will do otherwise.

I’ll never get over how insidious it is that all these years latter young women are still forcing themselves to accept polygamy. It’s like finding a cockroach in your ice cream and being told if you like ice cream you have to eat the cockroach too. You don’t!

My parents lived Plural Marriage, I have been exposed to it everyday of my life and to me its as normal as monogamy. 8 siblings and a mother I never would have had without Plural Marriage. It's actually more like eating one scoop of ice cream and discovering 3 more scoops under that one.

And I’m not trying to be rude to either of you girls here. But you can’t understand marriage, and what a part sex plays in bringing a husband and wife together if you’ve never been married. You can’t understand how sex brings a husband and wife together emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, not just physically , and not just to bring children into the world. Heavenly Father makes it very clear in Jacob (BofM) that the feelings and chastity of women are sacred and important to Him, that polygamy isn’t the normal way of doing marriage, but the exception to the norm, to be practiced only when the need arises. So I disagree that plural marriage is God’s way of marriage. We just do not know that for sure.

D&c calls polygamy the new and everlasting covenant. According to that statement polygamy is suspended because it's illegal. However, Mormon men are still allowed to be sealed to multiple wives (polygamy) while women can't.

I love what you shared here, and yes I agree with you! There's an essay I came across about a year ago that has been incredibly helpful to me in understanding that monogamy is of God, and that polygamy truly is an abomination. I don't think I can attach links, but the article is called: "A Proposed Reinterpretation of Jacob 2:30" by Steve Reed on his blog "one climbs".
