I met John with Hamskea at an archery shoot that he had a booth at and I have the bracket on my Phase 4 33". He immediately spotted my bracket and told me not to use the bracket with a hunting bow. The angle of the chord to the bracket is incorrect and to install the chord on the limb with the provided limb pad. He went to great length explaining why.. too much for me to write here. Unless you want the full version

You don’t need a Knight but they are nice. Sub MOA with open sights? We recently got this out to 400 and it’s shooting great with open sights. Recently been shooting closer to 2-3 inches at 100 yards with a peep. With a scope I’m sure this would easily be sub MOA. Didn’t have to fine tune load at all. This was the first time ever shooting these and I do not just post best groups just what I shoot that day and it was not the tightest group which is all good! I have been very impressed with the Knight for many reasons. Glad you enjoy your CVA. -Kyle

Love the video and I stand behind the deadmeats but a bit of advice I shoot religiously and with what your doing with your release your not target panicking but you are just gripping it and popping it off instead of putting your thumb pressure on it and using your shoulder to let it go off !!! But that’s just how I was taught and my groups at 60 are usually 2-3 inch groups but I do have my off days happy hunting bud

Test & Evaluation engineer here.... great job of a difficult measurement to try. Two suggestions for this video would be to stop the music backing for the shots. Secondly, after all the shots, play the sequence of arrows passing (at 1 sec intervals with the type in print on the screen so we can hear the difference in a short time). What you'd also notice that a 3dB change is barely audible to the ear. so a 8.4dB difference with the loudest is noticeable. Yes, there are always more variables to control for (wind noise), small variation in arrow distance from the mic, any mic directionality, ensuring the measurement is responsive enough to gate out the wind, bow twang and the target thump etc. In the lab we'd also record the sensor instrument make, model and S/N for repeatability, and measurement setup (measurement speed if this is an option) and to check that it is calibrated. The make, model and settings would be useful to know. You'd also record the bow details and target (as you've done). When making relative measurements (A vs B vs C...) as you're doing, some of these finesses aren't so important.

This is so helpful thank you!! I agree with your suggestions and if I do it again will apply these thank you! I like that you measure by unit. I’m sure every unit has some difference of sensitivity. my question is, how do you take your calibration shot at 80 yards without a sight tape to begin with? you just accept you're probably going to loose/break an arrow, and send it?
@TrueLineOutdoors
@TrueLineOutdoors 3 ай бұрын
Great question! If starting from scratch I would just slowly walk back and you can also use distances such as 20 and 60 to build a tape. I think it’s more accurate further out but you can build tapes with shorter distances. Hope that helps! -Kyle
@ianlaughlin85
@ianlaughlin85 3 ай бұрын
I'd be more concerned with accuracy. A few fps isn't as important. I wonder if the slower speed means energy was transfered into spin or just more drag. Theoretically more spin is more accuracy. So the slower arrows may be more accurate.

Hey there! It’s the Vortex Ridgeview. It’s amazing for standing and glassing and I like the 3 vs 4 legs. Only downside is it’s tall when folded up. I remove center column so with this head it’s a very tall tripod and light. It sounds silly but the peace of mind of their warranty is nice too as I have had issues in the past with another tripod. I have tried a Slik 633 and liked it but this one has been great if you can find a deal on it. What tripod do you use? I would like to try an aziak for sitting and glassing someday. -Kyle

I have a "few" 50 caliber Knight Disc Extremes set up for Oregon. I love the Williams rear peep sight. However, I shoot an XS Sights fine white line patridge (not partridge) front blade. The aiming point is the very top of the blade, therefore you are not covering the aiming point with the sight which gives a very clear sight picture which I prefer. I have been able to hold 1" groups at 100 yards when my eyesight was better. This is also an extremely rugged front sight. I use a No Excuses 460 grain conical bullet. These are lead cast bullets. He die sizes his lead conicals for a precision diameter. The heavy bullet is much the same principle as heavy bullets in long range rifles.. With a pure lead conical you don't want your powder charge to be too hot or the bullet will strip from the rifling and get erratic accuracy. I have found around 80 to 85 grains of powder to be optimum. The downrange energy on this load is incredible. I finely put in the time to find a setup that has excellent accuracy for our late season blacktail bunts. I also killed my Unit 61 Colorado bull with the same set-up.
