I get how in the moment when you see things in slow motion, your brain isn’t thinking fast like in anime. It’s more like your body is just following the last action you thought of (in my experience). So it’s more likely he expected the keeper to stop it better than he did where the ball would kind of fall rather than roll - so once he committed himself to sprinting forward for the motionless ball, it was too late for the brain and body to course correct at that speed. Most people don’t have the speed he does, and watching it on the screen it seems even more obvious to the viewer. But that’s not how it feels necessarily on the field, especially when you have a flash of your next move appear in your head.
