I love these cars. I had an 89 in high school and they hold a special place in my heart. I hope to own one again some day but they are getting very hard to find.

Love it. I’m in the process of rehabbing my 89 ES with a 2.4 and new paint. I’ve owned it since 95 and it has sat for years in the corner of the garage neglected due to raising a family

Hey man I happened to buy a this very same car mine is red I’m having trouble finding parts for it I’ve fixed her up enough to make it a daily I love it the more I drive it dead in some guys yard for six years to driving 1000k miles to go to work I really wanna make it a show car it draws more attention than a 100 mustangs or Camaros ppl constantly ask what is this car they see Shelby and it’s not a ford 😂 I see you posted years ago but I hope you have some good info for a good company that sells parts for it I’d love to make mine shine again

How did you fill these holes in floor? You welded metal plates or you could actually get plates exactly for this model.

Excellent job! Currently restoring a 1986 Shelby Daytona. I do prefer the stock wheels but still, very nice!

There would be more of these beauties around if it wasn’t for the head gaskets being so shitty. I remember test driving one in 1989 and I wish I bought it.

When I was a little kid my older sisters boyfriend got a brand new Dodge Daytona Pacifica. Driving it home from the Dodge dealership the electronic gauge cluster shut off. He owned car a little more then a year before having to get rid of it because it was always always fucking up somehow. The last issue he had before Trading it in was the back brakes kept locking up while driving highway speeds. Apparently it was a common problem for the 1987 Daytona but Chrysler didn't know how to fix it at the time. I was only 8 years old at the time but my mom had a brand new LeBaron GTS Turbo that was always back at the dealership getting repaired because it was equally a piece of shit. At one year and only 9k miles my mom had enough and ditched that piece of crap at the closest Toyota dealership and has driven nothing but Toyotas ever since. I remember my mom explaining to me that it was the last American car she was ever going to waste her money on. I know in the Northeast section of the u.s. the Dodge Daytona and Chrysler lasers we're prone to severe body rot but herein the southeast the bodies we're the least of their problems. Crappy little turbocharged engines would overheat chronically causing the head gaskets to blow. I honestly haven't seen a Dodge Daytona of any year here in Miami in at least 25 years. I saw a Hyundai Excel and even a Yugo about 10 years ago but I haven't seen any of the late 80s or early 1990s offerings from Chrysler since then.

Great job on the restoration, looks awesome. I bought a custom ordered Chrysler XE Turbo in 1984 with the digital talking dash and every option available. Loved that car. Did a little waste gate work and different tires/mags, disappointing a lot of 5.0 mustangs and late model camaros, 280z turbos and celica turbos, little car would eat their lunch all day long.

Thank you dude for bringing our great memories to life, this is the car that stared it all for me as a car fanatic when I was a teenager back then. Put the OEM wheels back on! It needs to look like it was out of the factory:) cheers!

Great job! I'm glad to see these turbo Chryslers. I had a weekend drive with a Daytona turbo but one of the tires had a large bubble coming out of the sidewall. Had to take it back and ended up getting a Shadow ES turbo. Fun car, yours looks great!

Such a nice restore job. I bought a bright red/gray leather, t-tops, digital dash, completely loaded 1987 Daytona Pacifica brand new and it was a beautiful awesome car that I'd give anything to still have today. Hope you still have and enjoy yours!

Priceless!"Hello my friend we meet again"thats when the tears fell. Fell for my 88,89,and 93. Great job on restoring this iconic beauty! All 3 of mine stole my heart. I have a Challenger now and love him to death...but the Daytona will always have my heart. It was like a first true love..so to speak. :) I was totally crying at"when you are with me,Im free!"Great video!

I had 89 leather interior, same blue with the stripes moon roof no t tops but louvered rear window. I loved this car but sold it off when I started flying for a 88 Celica my brother left at my moms. Lots of fun until the mid 90’s and then the cars all got much faster. I got beat off the light by a Volvo Xc turbo AWD wagon and the nose picker in the front seat laughed. Embarrassing! Too much wheel hop and torque steer, and no independent rear suspension. I’m nostalgic but I think my Tacoma is faster. Great resto job thanks for sharing.
