I just went through my dresser drawers and my closet. Pulled out size 18, and size 16 clothes and closed my eyes and took a humongus pile of my favorite clothes to Goodwill. I am now a size 10/12. I do not expect to gain weight, but should I need a different size will buy new ones. I am working very hard to get rid of, or file or trash mail the day we bring daily. Hmmmm repeating some things unnecessarily. I HATE clutter.,

My wife passed away last spring after more than 50 years of marriage. I was suddenly forced to face the fact that at some point, I too, would be passing. The thought of leaving my only daughter to dispose of all of my goods was daunting. Thank you for giving me some ideas for getting rid of 50+ years of "stuff".

Hi. Flat surfaces are my achilleas heal. They seem to be a magnet for stuff. I am personally thinking of putting my heavy stand mixer on the counter along with the air fryer. They are getting a little difficult to take out. Just in case, now that you mention it, is an issue too. Back to organizing and decluttering, LOL. Thank you for the video. Have a nice day everyone.

You make a valid point, and it's a sentiment many are realizing. The next generation often values experiences over physical possessions, which can make it challenging to pass down items with personal significance. That’s why decluttering with intention is so important-keeping what truly matters to you, while letting go of the excess. For heirlooms or sentimental items, consider sharing their stories now, perhaps alongside a handwritten note or a photo. This way, even if the item itself isn’t kept, the memory and meaning can live on in a way that resonates. And ultimately, uncluttering your home can be a gift to both yourself and your loved ones-a way to simplify life and make space for peace. Thank you for sharing your perspective! 🌟

listening to this just depressed me more; my place is cluttered and chaotic cuz it's really just a reflection of what's inside of me; there's no order within. So, decluttering, which I try to do once in a while, is very temporary. I go back to what's familiar.

Thank you for sharing your feelings-it's brave to acknowledge these struggles, and it's an important first step. Many people feel the same way, and you're definitely not alone. The connection between our physical spaces and our emotional state is real, and it can be overwhelming when it feels like one reflects or reinforces the other. Here are a few thoughts that might help: 1. Start Small and Celebrate Wins Rather than trying to tackle everything at once, focus on one small area-a drawer, a corner, or a single surface. Declutter that space and take a moment to acknowledge your progress. Success in small steps can build momentum and confidence. 2. Understand the "Why" Behind Items Ask yourself why you're holding onto certain things. Is it out of fear, sentiment, or a belief that you might need it someday? Understanding the emotional attachment can help you make peace with letting go-or decide to keep what truly matters. 3. Focus on Creating Calm, Not Perfection Remember, decluttering isn’t about achieving a picture-perfect home. It’s about creating a space that feels calming and manageable for you. Even small changes can bring a sense of peace. 4. Seek Support Sometimes, it's helpful to have someone by your side-a trusted friend, family member, or even a professional organizer. They can provide perspective, encouragement, and practical help. 5. Address the Inside, Too Since you mentioned your inner feelings, consider exploring ways to nurture your emotional well-being. Journaling, talking to a therapist, or practicing mindfulness can help create a sense of order within, making it easier to reflect that outwardly. 6. Set Gentle Maintenance Habits Try introducing a simple habit, like spending 10 minutes tidying a specific area each day. Over time, these small routines can help maintain the progress you’ve made. 7. Embrace Self-Compassion It's okay to have setbacks-it’s all part of the process. Treat yourself with kindness and patience. Decluttering is not just about physical items; it’s also about giving yourself the grace to grow at your own pace. Remember, your clutter doesn’t define you, and change-even small, gradual change-is always possible. You’ve already taken an important step by sharing this. 🌟

Thank you for sharing your thoughts so openly. It takes courage to recognize the connection between our surroundings and how we feel inside-it’s not easy, and you’re not alone in feeling this way. Decluttering can feel overwhelming when it’s tied to deeper emotions or patterns, but it doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. Here are a few thoughts that might help: Start Small and Be Kind to Yourself: Instead of tackling everything at once, focus on just one tiny area-a single drawer or a corner of a room. Celebrate even the smallest progress, because every step forward matters. Shift the Focus to Self-Care: Think of decluttering not as a chore but as an act of care for yourself. By creating a calmer space, you’re giving yourself more room to breathe and feel at ease. Embrace Imperfection: It’s okay if things feel temporary at first. Decluttering is a journey, not a one-time fix. The fact that you’re trying shows incredible resilience-give yourself credit for that effort. Create Systems That Work for You: If you feel drawn back to what’s familiar, try creating simple habits or routines that help keep order in a way that feels natural for you. For example, “put it away, not down” can make a big difference over time. Seek Support if You Need It: Sometimes, having a friend, family member, or even a professional organizer to help can make the process less daunting. You don’t have to do it all alone. Remember, your worth isn’t tied to the state of your home. Progress might feel slow, but every small step forward brings you closer to the peace you deserve. Sending you encouragement-you’re stronger than you think. 💛

Thank you for your comment! I completely understand where you're coming from-living in a place with limited storage can definitely make decluttering and organizing feel like a challenge. The tips I shared are meant to inspire ideas, but I know they may not fit every situation perfectly. If you’re short on storage, consider getting creative with vertical space (like shelves) or multi-purpose furniture with hidden storage. Sometimes it’s about finding solutions that work uniquely for your space. If you have any strategies that work for you in small spaces, I’d love to hear them-let’s keep learning from each other!

Anyone else have the experience of donating wonderful items and not getting a Thank you?
@EvergreenSeniors-n4o
@EvergreenSeniors-n4o 2 күн бұрын
That’s such an important point, and I completely understand how that can feel. Donating items-especially ones that hold value or sentimental meaning-comes from a place of generosity and care. When there’s no acknowledgment or gratitude in return, it can feel disappointing. But here’s a perspective that has helped me: when I donate, I try to focus on the impact the items might have for someone in need, even if I never hear back. A warm coat might keep someone comfortable through the winter, or a book might bring joy to someone who really needs it. Those unseen benefits can be so rewarding to imagine. That said, I agree-it’s always uplifting to feel appreciated, and a simple “thank you” can go such a long way. If you’re donating to organizations, it might be worth sharing your thoughts with them-many places welcome feedback and strive to show gratitude to their donors. Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s a reminder to all of us to be intentional and appreciative when we’re on the receiving end. You’re making a difference, even if it’s not always visible! 💚

I usually thank them for taking my stuff. I don't online sell. I am in my sixties and just done with yard sales. I think someone is going to have something nice at a good price, when I donate. I found the perfect love seat for my small house for $35. Don't be upset, the people that take the donations work hard in all kinds of weather for peanuts is my guess like fast food workers. I worked in McDonald's when I was a teenager, and it was the worst job I have ever had. I am a veteran and being deployed was a better job. Hope this helped some. Use index cards with what is in each container and location, and stack 2 or 3 high, and cover with serapes, sheets, and use as tables. 13 gallon for heavier stuff and 20 gallons for bedding, clothing etc. Please cover chairs and sofa with sheets, if you have pets, and wash. If moving, please put what you want to take in bathtub and pay a company to take everything out. Do not sell, for that is dangerous, and fake money. Do not take furniture out of the country. Rent a furnished studio on a month-to-month basis, automatic rent payment with all utilities, maid etc. Rent is all you pay. Order groceries online for home delivery. Be generous to non-beggars. That's certainly an efficient approach for some situations, especially if you're in a rush or prefer a hands-off solution! However, for many people, decluttering can be more than just clearing out-it’s a journey of reflection, deciding what truly matters, and finding joy in sharing items with others who need them. Whether it’s hiring a company or taking it step by step, the goal is the same: creating a home that feels lighter and more peaceful. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

GOD IS IN CONTROL. Buy 13- and 20-gallon Rubbermaids.. Number on all sides the number 1 on up. Nothing on the floor. God is in charge. He will have the FINAL word.

Thank you for sharing your perspective! 🙏 You're absolutely right that laundry routines can vary based on personal preferences and priorities like energy costs. Doing laundry once a week is a great way to conserve both energy and time, especially if it works well for your schedule and needs. In the video, I shared the "one load a day" habit as an option for those who might feel overwhelmed by larger laundry piles or prefer spreading tasks out throughout the week. But it’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach! What’s important is finding a system that suits your lifestyle while keeping things manageable. Whether it’s once a week or another schedule, the goal is the same-a more peaceful and stress-free home. Thanks again for your input-it’s always great to hear how others tackle everyday tasks! 😊

What difference does it make whether you do it all at once or spread it out? If you have your own washer and dryer the same thing is going to happen. Wash/dry/fold repeat.

You’re using the same amount of energy because you’re doing the same amount of laundry.

When someone offers help, it is okay to accept it. Many times, they are helping you,but you are also helping them feel good about theirself, as they feel better for helping you. It is a win win for everyone.

Most of us were taught that asking for help is sign of weakness.

My daughter also believes that asking for help is wrong or weak. I have been hearing her say, " STAND ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET!." For myself, I am always thankful when I can help someone else in their time of need. I have been a helper/ hand holder all my life. We all get old.

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful perspective! 🌟 Accepting help is indeed a gift-not just for us, but for the person offering it. It’s a wonderful reminder that allowing others to help can create a bond and bring joy to both sides. The “win-win” you mentioned perfectly captures the mutual benefit of these moments. Thank you for this insight-it’s a heartwarming reminder to embrace the kindness of others and, in doing so, spread positivity all around. 💖
