This was a few weeks before my eighteenth birthday. I went to Namur on my 50cc Honda MT. From my hometown Sint Katelijne Waver this was a two-three hours ride. I headed to Namur the day before the races would start. I was able to set up my tent right next to the famous jump the riders take after going full throttle on the tarmac in front of the Chalet du monument. At that time I had no idea how famous this place was. I just figured it would be handy to be close to the Chalet to have acces to running water and toilets for the weekend. Of course I picked the spot next to the jump to enjoy seeing the riders fly after a full speed tarmac ride. And what a spectacle it was. I also was lucky enough to have seen Hakan have a beer with his brother in front of the Chalet du monumet. Before this race I knew very little about Hakan and the true legend he was. Only years later I realised how lucky I am to have seen all this in person. Now , thirty years later all of this is gone , Eric(RIP) is gone, Hakan(RIP) is gone and so is the Grand Prix de Namur, but the memories I have will never go away. Thank you M.R.O. for posting this. Any chance on uploading the 2nd race of this memorable day?

What a lot of viewers don't realise is the uphill and downhill parts are the old man-made ramparts of a castle fortress. I went there in '74 and they are too steep to walk. Serious stuff.

Hakan was so dominant and looked so confident on what looked like a very stock bike, I think he retired that or the next year still think he could have won another title, I remember him dominating at Farleigh Castle also, great rider.

There is sound on the video though, you just have to turn up your peakers really high. Sadly i wasn't able to capture the sound any louder from the old VHS tape my excuses.
