Loved this interview. Larry Benoit influenced the way I hunt whitetail and the way I advocated for the Sportsmen and women of MA! Hope Ron does the book on Larry he spoke of in NE Big Bucks mag. I’m sure there are others who got to know the humble hunter with a heart of gold!

beautiful buck good shot, make surety scope doesn't move, the recall on light scopes sometimes don't tighten enough it'll move

First of all my friend if I had a deer like that, I wouldn’t go anywhere. I don’t care if it was Saskatchewan until I had that guy down, but that’s just me. We’re all different not saying that you’re doing anything wrong. That’s just my opinion.

Nice buck! Just wondering why the pump rifle is so popular in the NE, just traditional thing or because there’s a lot stalk & track hunting & need a quick follow up shot maybe?

l Live in Eastern NC and we never get snow and I wondered how many times the buck you kill is not even the one your tracking. I love to drop down in the Low ground of a river and stalk nice and slow and this seems very similar and I am dying to try this way. Great hunt and anything you do that keeps you in the woods for more hours a day raises your chances a lot!

Sometimes you do kill a different buck than the one you're on. This tends to happen more often when there's a doe in heat in the mix and other bucks are trying to move in. In this situation I backtracked where the buck came from and determined it was the same buck I had been on.

Randy Flannery uses a trick where he takes a a twig and breaks it to the size of the width of the deer track that he has decided to track. I have hunted Maine almost 2 decades now and I know fully well how easy it is to get on the wrong track. Nice buck.

Great Job. This is the exact reason I make my friends search forever. Sometimes they just dont bleed. I mean look at that foam clearly you lunged that deer. if you would have given up after 5 or 10 minutes like so many that deer would have gone to waste. Congrats.
