Thanks for this great fix! I installed a Home Depot Store SKU #1001293165 piece I cut to size. 4 x 12 inch. I included the bent ridge edge along the bottom to make it rigid on the far end. I held in place with a block of wood on the left side. I drilled one hole in the metal plate and put a screw into the wood so it wont vibrate loose. I'm very confident it will work. Thanks again!

how did you seal the outlet and sensor holes?
@davidtinkers
@davidtinkers 3 ай бұрын
I installed an old sensor in the hole and sealed the end with a piece of asphalt shingle backed with a piece of wood and clamped to the pipe flange . The shingle melted slightly but worked.

Did it do any damage to the leaf springs or the bolts that hold the leaf springs like bend them ?

What is the purpose of using the chains rapped around both sides of axle like you showed in part 2?
@davidtinkers
@davidtinkers 6 ай бұрын
That area remained bent after the previous work.

i measured from the driveway to bottom of axle its 7.25 I had a thought maybe I could put a extra axle u bolts and plate the and just have them just a little tight so the flat plate is at the bottom of axles they are only like 4 inches wide and then put jack under that flat plate just to distribute some of the pressure of the jack

What size boards did you use a 4x4 or 6x6 ? one of my front axles are bent the top is leaning in a little i had a thought of using like 3 or 4 mufflers clamps on the bottom of axle to hopefully keep the axle from crushing in and use the boards like you have yours i do have a 3 ton jack on wheels but by the time you put jacks and 6x6 or 4x4s under it i think I would have to have trailer really high what's your thought ?
@davidtinkers
@davidtinkers 6 ай бұрын
I used two beams that were about 4x6 inches.

The chains are wrapped under the wood beams and over the axle

I bet you need a stronger hydraulic jack. That floor jack may only be a 3 ton. Fyi, I tried a 12 ton bottle jack and it wasn't strong enough to straighten out a 7000 pound axle so I'm going to try a 20 ton bottle jack.

Thanks for the video. I'll copy your technique to straighten my trailer axle. It bent hauling 2400 lbs of gravel in a trailer rated for 1400 lbs when I hit a big frost heave on the road. Even though I was impressed at how tough this little utility trailer is, I won't do that again.

I really appreciate this video! I never would have found the panel allowing access to the location of the mouse nest in my 2009 Fit. Yesterday I removed the panel, cleaned out a large pile of shredded bedding, and installed a piece of ¼-inch hardware cloth about 11½ x 5½-inches over the hole leading down to the cabin filter. I wedged the screen in place using wooden blocks at each end. I hope it works! Thank you!

This was not the original alternator. It was a re-manufactured one with a Bosch sticker. It didn't last as long as a new one. I suspect all the bearings weren't replaced when re-manufactured. Thanks for your comment!
