Ty mine stopped from the wiggles of the steering wheel because of 4 front missing lug nuts 3 on each side serious steering wheel shake 💩

Unfortunately, this remedy didn't work for me so I went and replaced the switch. I still have the old one and would like to find a strip of metal that I could cut to length to replace that worn out spring. Anyone have any ideas about where I might find a suitable piece of metal stripping that I could substitute for that worn out spring?

I did everything like he said. Turned the spring around. It still wont stay down on left turn signal, and won't shut off.

I took it apart again. I noticed that the white round disc underneath had a tab that was supposed to be at 12 o'clock. it was around 1oclock. I took the black square plastic piece off after the other 2 had been removed from his video. There was a post straight up around 2:30 I had to pull back and rotate the white disc, so the tab was back at 12 o'clock. That was the problem. I put the black square piece back, then the white rectangle piece, then the last black square piece and put the cover on. the white disc had somehow rotated too far. Now left turn signal works fine.

I replaced the switch assembly since they are not expensive. Old switch would not latch for left hand turns. On RH turns it would latch but not auto cancel. So..now both sides latch but no auto cancel for either direction. Any ideas?

Any idea what's the issue if fix doesn't work? Even the new one didn't do and once turning the steering wheel no significant clicks can be heard.😳😳😳

Don't have to worry about it the arm is broken ofhsr part is there I just do it manually 08 hhr

This is possibly would fix and get it on mine and it worked for a while but eventually quit just bought a new stalk for $18 amazon

Tried this but still have same problem. My turn signal lever will not go down to signal left, it will only go up to signal right. Could there be another problem inside the lever housing

Either way I guess I'll be buying a new lever to install, but at least that part is easy thanks to your video and pointing out the tabs to push and such

7:55 important point about pushing the tabs back up into place as they don’t snap-in automatically. You’re one of the few channels to point this out !

Reminder: It could just just be just the turn signal connection(the 1st step) I re-seated the connector(heard the tiny clicks) and then drove it around - Works! Try that first before taking the whole thing apart.

Did you ever think to show us how to remove the turn signal handle from the steering column? Pretty sure that has to be done first. 😂 You made an incomplete video. 😞

Having the same problem with my 2008. Tomorrow afternoon I will be taking mine apart and instilling in my Wife I'm a genius. I watched another video on replacing front wheel bearings. I went ahead and replaced both rotors and pads. My Wife said her car drives beautifully. I rarely get such appreciation so I will fix her turn signal tomorrow. Thank you for letting me tap your brain. I can't wait.

Thanks , my wife's 2008 HHR just did this , at 131,462 miles , been such a great car , I said G R E A T car , never any issues , except rotors don't last (aftermarket) . Great video , excellent quality , I thank you .

I buy slotted-drilled rotors from an aftermarket supplier. I usually buy them from Brakeworld.com along with the pads.

You need rotors made of cast iron. I put Wagners with the black outer coating years ago. Since then I even replaced the pads again after 40,000 miles and didn't have to resurface them. Brakes smooth as silk still. Note: front end shimmy is all bad on front end suspension, never let that happen.

What a waste of time. Just replace the switch and save yourself the hassle. This doesn't fix anything.

Thanks for sharing, but it’s not an absolute fix. Mine had a tab broke off the white plastic part under that spring plate. The tab that broke of is meant to grab a small coil spring, which centers the white plate. Bummer... I was hoping for a cheap fix.

Excellent video help me a lot but my hhr has another problem, the big door on the back side ( the hatch ) doesn't work, when i push the door is unnable to open, i openned with a screw driver in to the hatch but is complicated to insert the screw driver there, cuold you make a video about this? Thank you and congratulations for your videos they are very instructive

My left turn signal when I turn on but the right turn signal will turn on what do you think is wrong with it

Wow! you just saved me $40 as well. I was getting ready to place an order on Amazon and something told me there must b some sort of fix for this since I was sure it was just a switch problem and I found your video. IT FIX THE PROBLEM!!! It was a little tedious since i didn't have a regular flat head screwdriver (IKEA $8 kit) but I watched the video a few times and after slowing down, taking deep breaths and taking my time I was able to put it back together perfectly! Thanks SO much!!!!

I'm having the same auto-canceling issue. I tried this, it didn't work. I'll try again another time and just hope it does it. It's doing it to the replacement I purchased. Really annoying. Couldn't cancel on right turns on my original, now it won't cancel lefts.

Gr8 vid Thx. I only wanted to clean the sticky indicators as they had no contact unless I gently lifted or depressed lever for them to work. Yes, it was so annoying to manually always hold the lever to indicate. As back yard mechanic I sprayed WD inside thinking to clean any dust etc. Now my High Beams stay on all the time thus I removed the 2 fuses. Now I have no high beams. I guess I shunted the board and need to blow compressed air to remove residual liquid. Lets hope this works. Any tips pls and thx.

Thanks for the video. I used it to replace the turn signal module completely. It was only a few buck on Amazon so now I can fix the old unit at leisure.

Good video..I would probably F it up and lose those iddy bitty parts...but I'll probably manually cancel until I can get a non Chevy car. The HHR was my first Chevy.. and it seems like a very cheaply made car. not a fan of my car.lol
