when i swapped in my tranny i made a wooden cradle that went round the tranny pan to hold it solidly in place. Stabbed it in on either the 1st or 2 nd try worst thing i did wrong was NOT have an air ratchet. this whole process took me 6 hrs toget out and only 4 going back in once i had the air ratchet.

Why don't you just get one for $175 bucks they're not that expensive I understand 175 bucks is a little bit of money I'm not going to lie but it ain't not worth all that trouble to take that in and out multiple time trying to clean it up

Does this car have the scent that I can’t smell from video? it looks like it’s in really good condition. I remember you mentioned you were parting it for another car to have the engine.
@bobsyouruncle21204 ай бұрын
Yea if only you had smellovision lol. It's the transmission that I want. I couldn't find a loose one for less than $1,200 bucks, and then you don't know If you can trust the seller. But for 800 bucks I got this car running and driving, and with a little luck I'll have paid nothing for the transmission in the end. This car sat for too long. The cost to make it reliable would exceed its value when done. But I'm with you. I'm used to fixing stuff not taking stuff apart. Plus I kind of fell in love with it. I wouldn't mind picking up a better example in the future.

I do believe that it may actually deserve a new paint job? 🤔 ... I think it would look really good in gold or like a shade of tan with gold flake. A new coat of the factory color would look good as well. Perhaps an el cheapo rustolem paint can job (after sanding and primer) would look alot better than how it looks right now. Of course, a wet sanding and buffing, then clear coat over that I think would make it respectable, but of course, it all comes down to how much one would spend 🤔 The power of a really good paint job could highly motivate you (or a potential buyer) ... to fix other things lol.😅

U can make your own injector cleaner tool by using an injector harness clip (clip it to a 12V battery) & syringe tube JB welded to a areosol nozzle straw (carb/brake cleaner). And use a drywall screw to pull out old screen, replace, screen & O-rings. Good as new.
@bobsyouruncle21204 ай бұрын
The tool I used was pretty cheap, and did a good job of helping me "unstick" the stuck injectors and test them with pulses. Thanks for the good alternate suggestion though 👍

@@christopherconroy4876 What CAN be done is there are coatings that you can apply to the inside of the tank. BTW this original tank looked like it had some kind of galvanization/treatment. Maybe the replacement tanks are coated, or aluminum? My '70 cougar aftermarket tank is aluminum.

nice work on the tank, did you ever try sand and vinegar? They sell an epoxy product that you mix and pour into the tank and move it around, basically painting the inside of the tank with epoxy, so any thin spots in the metal will never leak.
