You can indeed fight like that. Each on of those movements when applied in combat provides deception, protection, and explosive momentum. When a true broadsword is brought into the equation, the cutting force of each blow is many thousands of pounds per in.^2.

The extraordinary level of agility in these people is impressive. My sister took gymnastics for years, and she was amazing at it, but these people take agility to a whole other level.

Actually, the constant spinning motion of the sword stemmed from multiple martial arts, the reason being that in a fight, when you need to block or strike with the sword, the weapon is already in motion. It's actually used kung fu, wushu, eskrima and many more besides.

@MichaelTheInfamous his style is wushu its a very flashy style but they can fight unlike what a lot of ppl may think they also do a type of kickboxing and this is just their forms. also the higher and faster they move and the more flashy the more points they gain

@ETsonggalaxy haha i get a lot of criticism for the music but hey.. everyone has their own tastes. I made another vid w/ trance so maybe you'd like that one better? If you knew video editing you'd appreciate that my cuts go with the music, as I chose flips and lands to sync with the rise and falls of the song. neway wushu is exciting and powerful! If you want chinese drums go make a traditional kung fu video. This is modern wushu.. its exciting and explosive.. which is reflected in the song!

Weird song for Wu Shu video! Even Rocky music would have been better.! Wu Shu has a history of gracefullness. Nothing wild or inbalaced... Traditional Chinese DRUMS would have blended in with this video ! etsonggalaxy

Well, considering the reflexes, muscles and precision you gain from practicing Wushu i am pretty confident saying that it is just as good for real fighting as it is for "showoff"

lol that was amazing, he blocked his spear then one quick motion sliced him in half lol. well, he woulda if it was real, but dude, image a fight like that with REAL swords, not choreographed, and to the honorable defeat? (no not death, when u admit u would be)

This style is supposed to have combative roots from traditional Kung Fu, but as it's evolved over the years it's more of a sport than a way to teach you how to fight. Look up sport karate or tricking and it's basically the same thing. All martial arts have form routines that are supposed to prepare you for combat in some way, but a lot of people like myself just participate in form tournaments for the sport.
