I’m so sorry that your book, Patterns in Landscape, is no longer in print. The reviews are so complimentary, and the pictures look beautiful. I’ve had an interest in landscape sewing for awhile, and your book is described as a very user friendly, one that uses a step by step approach to this art form. I have enjoyed watching your videos tho. 😄

That's very kind. Thank you. My book was self published, self promoted, etc, and I no longer do the shows, teaching and travel that has been integral in selling my book. The aging process coupled with long covid has brought me to a halt. So the videos will remain and I guess you might find a second hand copy of the book. Good luck. Landscape work is very stimulating and satisfying.

Merci d'avance....

Dear Marie-Thérèse Thank you for your message. There are 20 videos which take you through the whole process of making a landscape quilt by this method. I wrote a book too but sadly it is no longer available. Search for effie galletly landscapes in KZbin and you will find the earlier videos. Good luck.

I'm finally settled into my retirement home and looking for a craft/project to keep my mind and hands busy as I've worked with yarn/threads/felt/material/paper etc. by hand and machine all my life. I came across your video and knew I had at last landed on my future time consumer (aka therapy) lol. Canada has four Seasons I will be drawing designs from and in particular our years living in the NWT. People only think of white when the North is mentioned ... there are sooo many beautiful color across the land throughout the different times of year I'm hoping to capture. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing this love of creating that feeds artistic desires.

Hi Effie, i love your approach to your work,what are your thoughts on irons,do you steam don't you steam,some of the irons are hundreds of dollars,i have arthritis in both hands so i can't use a heavy iron,i am thinking of a light cheap iron using it dry and using a spray bottle with water.Look forward to your thoughts.Toni from Australia.
@effiegalletly6 жыл бұрын
Hello No I don't have any great theories about irons. Some cheap ones work very well, they just don't last very long. I have a pricier one, but it is very noisy steaming up! Have you seen my video on ironing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKanm6uapbx5hLM

Hi Effie, I am a newbie, a complete beginner with regard to making quilts and have yet to start one, but have had a background in watercolour painting some years ago. I always seemed to have problems with tones, getting my dark's dark enough etc., and I saw someone posted on a Facebook page recently to take a photo of your materials as laid out, like you did in your video here, but then also to take another photo, if your camera has the facility, in black and white so that you could then see the tonal values better. Would this work please in your opinion to help me grade the colours into correct tonal values? Thank you in advance. Michelle xx
@effiegalletly7 жыл бұрын
It might very well work Michelle. Try it and see. You could also try making a B&W photocopy of a photo of your fabrics. Same idea really. I see you've ordered a book. I think you might find that helpful too. I have painters who buy it! Effie.
