(I took this build over from another shop). . It lacked a side stand and the center stand was difficult to deploy. I used the ‘aceteline wrench’ to bend a side stand from a ‘72 R50 to suit, and made a toe hook from round stock which I welded onto the center stand bending it to suit. I adjusted the side stand so it deployed smoothly and used a strong, permanent magnet to keep the stand firmly stowed. A cluge, but it got the job done. 😎

@@jmtwilson Thanks for the reply. A cluge? Maybe, but it looks better on the bike than the Brown side stand. I have an '83 BMW R100 and want to get rid of the stock side stand. What year is your bike? Did the '72 R50 side stand bolt directly to the frame without modification to the frame or side stand mount? If yes, then I guess I need to find an older side stand and add an Acetylene Wrench to my tool box.
